Wimbledon sign Lincoln midfielder Smith on loan

AFC Wimbledon have signed midfielder Alistair Smith on a season-long loan from Lincoln City.

The 25-year-old joined Lincoln from Sutton at the start of last season, making 32 appearances across all competition for the club, before joining Colchester United on loan in January.

Smith scored twice in his 15 appearances in League Two for the U's.

“He’s a player that we’ve been looking at for a long time," Wimbledon manager Jonnie Jackson told the club website.

"He’s an energetic attacking midfielder, box to box, dynamic and he’s very experienced at this level. He fits right into what we’re doing this season.”
