Luke Woolfenden spent eight years at Ipswich Town

Coventry City have signed Ipswich Town defender Luke Woolfenden on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Woolfenden, 28, made 215 appearances in all competitions for Ipswich during eight years at his hometown club.

He played a key part in back-to-back promotions to the Championship and the Premier League, featuring 18 times in the top flight last season.

"I'm excited to be here. It's been in the pipelines for a few weeks now," Woolfenden told Coventry's website. , external

"The team have had a great start to the season and I just want to help as much as I can and hopefully the great start continues."

The Sky Blues are in the Championship table, having won two and drawn two of their four games so far.

Meanwhile, Coventry forward Norman Bassette has joined French club Stade de Raims on loan for the rest of the season.

The Belgian joined the Sky Blues from Mechelen in the summer of 2024 and made 29 appearances last season, scoring once.

The 20-year-old has not figured in boss Frank Lampard's matchday squad so far this term and his last appearance for the club was as a late substitute on 18 April against West Brom.
