National League side Eastleigh have appointed Weston-super-Mare boss Scott Bartlett as their new first-team manager.

The 46-year-old takes over from Kelvin Davis and assistant Danny Butterfield, who were sacked by the Spitfires on Saturday.

Bartlett has managed National League South side Weston-super-Mare for six years, leading them to promotion from the Southern Premier, and also previously spent a spell in caretaker charge of Forest Green Rovers.

During his playing days, the ex-midfielder represented Salisbury, Weston-super-Mare and Bath City before ending his career at Forest Green.

"From our very first conversations with Scott, it was clear that we wanted to move this forward as quickly and efficiently as possible," Eastleigh vice-chairman Tom Coffey told the club website., external

"It has been a thorough process, and we have worked hard behind the scenes to bring it to completion. We would also like to thank Weston-super-Mare for their cooperation throughout.

"We are delighted to welcome Scott and the exciting brand of football he brings with him. He is highly respected within the football pyramid, and we can't wait for him to get started at the Silverlake."

Bartlett will not take charge of Wednesday's National League game with Southend - his first game as manager will be Saturday's trip to Wealdstone.
