'Schlupp will be chomping at the bit'

BBC Radio London's Phil Parry says new Norwich City signing Jeffrey Schlupp will be "chomping at the bit" to play for the Canaries in the Championship this season.

Schlupp joined Norwich on Thursday from Crystal Palace, where he made only 12 appearances last year before joining Celtic on loan in February.

"He'll be chomping at the bit because he didn't get many chances at Palace at the back end of his time there," Parry told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"I still think he has a lot to offer and I would imagine the knowledge that he was available definitely attracted other clubs into bringing him in so I think it was a good move [by Norwich]."

The 32-year-old spent eight years at Palace and is hugely experienced, having won the Premier League with Leicester before joining the Eagles for a reported £12m in 2017.

But it's not only his wisdom that will be useful to the Canaries, Parry believes.

"Maybe he's not the same player he was when he first started his football career age wise but what they are getting is firstly a very versatile footballer," he added.

"He may be described as a left-back, or left wing-back, or left winger, but suddenly we've seen him pop up in positions in central midfield whether it's a deeper line or it's more advanced.

"He's got goals in his locker; spectacular goals but also goals from the penalty box. He's a player with vast experience, vast versatility and adaptability and a great professional attitude."
