Carlisle sign Newcastle defender McArthur

Charlie McArthur is yet to make a senior appearance for Newcastle since joining from Kilmarnock in July 2022

Carlisle United have signed Newcastle United defender Charlie McArthur on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old becomes the eighth player to join the Cumbrians, who are seven points adrift of safety at the foot of League Two, this month.

The Scot started his career at Kilmarnock and made his senior debut at the age of 16 before joining Newcastle in July 2022.

He could make his debut for Mike Williamson's men in the home game against Bradford City on Saturday.
