Northampton Town have released 11 players after securing their place in League One for next season, while offering injured captain Jon Guthrie a new deal.

Kevin Nolan is reshaping the Cobblers squad but has offered deals to Guthrie - who has been out injured since January - Aaron McGowan, Mitch Pinnock, Josh Tomlinson and Max Dyche.

Pinnock was named Northampton's player of the season at the weekend and has played 200 games for the club since signing from Kilmarnock in 2021.

Nolan has released Tyler Magloire, Jack Sowerby, James Wilson, Nik Tzanev, Ali Koiki, Liam McCarron, Harvey Lintott, Akin Odimayo, Will Hondermarck, TJ Eyoma and Reuben Wyatt.

Goalkeeper Lee Burge will stay after triggering an appearance-related 12-month extension to his contract, while discussions are ongoing with winger Tariqe Fosu.

The Cobblers have nine players under contract for the 2025-26 season as it stands.

Nolan said: "We have made some difficult decisions and it is never nice having to tell a player that their contract is not being renewed.

"Some of these players have been at the club a number of years and have played a big part here, helping the club enjoy some good times.

"We believe we have a good core of players here, both in terms of ability and culture, which is very important, and we are excited to be entering into discussions with our chosen targets to build on and add to that over the course of the summer."
