Derby County defender Curtis Nelson has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign with a knee ligament injury.

The 31-year-old has made 30 appearances for the Rams this season, but was hurt during the 2-0 home defeat against Watford on Saturday.

"He has severe knee damage so he'll be out for a long period of time. His season is over," head coach Paul Warne said.

"Our sympathies are with him. He's heartbroken. He's a real warrior, so it's really sad for the dressing room and for all of us."

Derby, who host Sunderland on Tuesday, are one place above the Championship relegation zone following a run of four consecutive defeats.
