Tottenham are exploring a deal for Crystal Palace and England forward Eberechi Eze.

Thomas Frank is looking to bolster his options in the final third after attacking midfielder James Maddison was ruled out for the majority of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

South Korea forward Son Heung-min left the club after 10 years earlier this month having scored 173 goals in 454 appearances, while midfielder Dejan Kulusevski is still out after knee surgery.

Eze scored 14 goals across all competitions for Palace last season, including in their 1-0 win against Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

Asked directly about Eze in a news conference before Wednesday's Uefa Super Cup against Paris St-Germain, Frank said: "I think there are a lot of good players out there.

"There are also a few from the PSG team but I don't think we can buy them right now.

"In general, players in or players out, I always speaking about something that is done or not done. In general, I will speak about my own players."

I do like Frank's response to it [Yves Bissouma's lateness].

You have to be respectful to the time the manager sets and be committed to being there. One or two times you can be late because of things outside of your control but if its a consistent thing then the manager has to lay down the law. He's just come through the door so he has to set that tone early on.

I really like it. You like to think that will set a change. You look at PSG and Luis Enrique did something similar with Ousmane Dembele and he went on to be one of the best players in the world.

You're looking for a reaction now from Bissouma to show he wants to be part of things.

  4. 'Spurs should look at Chelsea for template to beat PSG'published at 14:51 British Summer Time

PSG have Joao Neves suspended but apart from that it is the same team, mindset and style of football from last season.

It will be very similar but Chelsea showed in that Club World Cup final that if you are aggressive there is a recipe to really trouble this big machine that we have seen being so good since January.

PSG expect something similar to what Chelsea did to them in that Club World Cup final and Spurs should really look at that as a template and recipe to go at PSG.

They need to be aggressive in midfield, have very quick transitions forward, and get in behind Hakimi and Mendes who are quite attacking and not give any space when PSG have the ball.

Chelsea were perfect on that night and I would expect Spurs to try and do the same. They do not have the same quality in their squad but there is something there to show Spurs what they have to do if they want to win tonight.

  6. 'Frank approach will be very different to Ange'published at 14:47 British Summer Time

    PSG v Spurs (20:00 BST)

    Stephen Kelly
Former Fulham defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Tonight we will see how Thomas Frank goes about it and how different it is going to be to Ange. It's going to be very different to how Ange played because the gung-ho, all-out-attack didn't seem to work for Spurs for a long time in the Premier League.

I think Thomas Frank is going to be more pragmatic. He's slightly more organised, from what I hear he takes every training session himself, he's on the grass with the players.

It's going to be really interesting to see how he lines up but PSG are probably the toughest opponents they could face.

  7. 'PSG have world class players in every position' - Frankpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time

    PSG v Spurs (20:00 BST)

Thomas Frank's Spurs ready to face a PSG side full of Ballon D'or nominees

Paris Saint-Germain's success last season has been reflected in the recent Ballon d'Or nominations - eight of the 30 men's nominees play for the French club.

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank knows his side face a huge challenge in the Uefa Super Cup on Wednesday.

"It's almost to the Barcelona days, I think there was a year under Pep when they had six or seven players named among the ten best players in the world," Frank told media on Tuesday.

"They are a world class team with world class players in basically every position. I think all of them have had strong seasons."

  8. Uefa Super Cup - a flying start for Frank?published at 14:40 British Summer Time

    PSG v Spurs (20:00 BST)

If Thomas Frank could choose the opponent for his first competitive match in charge of Tottenham Hotspur, he probably would not have picked Paris Saint-Germain.

The Champions League holders await Spurs in the Uefa Super Cup in Udine tonight - while the result will by no means define Spurs' season, a win would help get the Frank era up and running.

Unfortunately for Frank, he is without Dejan Kulusevski, Destiny Udogie and James Maddison through injury - the latter will miss most of the season with an ACL tear - while Yves Bissouma has been left out of the squad that has travelled to Italy as punishment for persistent lateness.

  9. Donnarumma - the best in the world?published at 14:38 British Summer Time

    DonnarummaImage source, Getty Images

Gianluigi Donnarumma has not always hit the high notes for Paris Saint-Germain, but last season he was at his very best.

The 26-year-old made 47 appearances in all competitions last season - including the Fifa Club World Cup - as PSG won the Champions League for the first time.

The Italy international kept six clean sheets in 15 Champions League outings, and produced a string of fine performances in the knockout rounds against Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal.

After a fine season, Donnarumma was nominated for both the 2025 men's Ballon d'Or and the men's Yashin Trophy for the world's best goalkeeper.

  10. Man City's complex goalkeeping situationpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time

    Shamoon Hafez
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Manchester City currently have four senior goalkeepers on their books, which is one too many, so it is somewhat of a surprise that they being heavily linked with Paris St-Germain's Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Italy number one's career at PSG appears to be over after being left out of the Uefa Super Cup tie against Tottenham and the Ligue 1 champions signing Lucas Chevalier from Lille.

Reports say City have agreed a deal to sign the 26-year-old but sources close to the player have told BBC Sport this is not the case and they have not spoken to Pep Guardiola's club.

City's current number one Ederson has been heavily linked with a move to Galatasaray but club sources have said they want the Brazilian to stay and there have, so far, been no bids or interest this summer.

The 31-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at Etihad Stadium and said at the Club World Cup in June that his "future is here" and his "mind is staying in the club".

However, that could change if City were to receive an offer that is worth considering - it is one that both the club and player would need to think about.

City's competition for the goalkeeping jersey is extremely healthy, with James Trafford coming in from Burnley and Marcus Bettinelli being signed as third-choice earlier this summer.

It means Stefan Ortega's career at City appears to be over with the club open to offers for the German goalkeeper, which would mean they would need to sign a replacement should Ederson depart too.

That road then leads back to Donnarumma and although there has been no contact between the parties so far, it may change by the end of the month.

  11. Gossip: Man City hold Donnarumma talkspublished at 14:32 British Summer Time

The news that Gianluigi Donnarumma has been dropped comes amid reports that Manchester City have held talks with Paris St-Germain over a deal for 26-year-old Italy goalkeeper.

French outlet RMC Sport say City have targeted Donnarumma as a possible replacement for Ederson, who is the subject of interest from Galatasaray.

  12. PSG back Enrique call to drop 'disheartened' Donnarummapublished at 14:30 British Summer Time

    Gianiluigi DonnarummaImage source, Getty Images

Paris St-Germain manager Luis Enrique says the club have backed his decision to drop goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma for the Uefa Super Cup.

The Italian was left out of the squad that travelled to Udine for Wednesday's match against Tottenham, with Lucas Chevalier and Renato Marin selected instead.

In a social media post, Donnarumma said he was "disappointed and disheartened" at his omission.

The 26-year-old was one of the stars of PSG's triumphant run to last season's Champions League title and the decision has come as a shock given his standing and profile.

Enrique said his decision was down to looking for a "different profile" of goalkeeper.

"I am supported by my club and we are trying to find the best solution," he told a news conference on Tuesday.

"It is a difficult decision. I only have praise for Donnarumma. He is one of the very best goalkeepers out there and an even better man."

  13. Postpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time

I'm more interested in how Fulham got into a situation where they only have one goalkeeper on their books, Tim.

Anyway, I'd be all for Jonathan's idea and you could have a situation similar to what they do in Italy on transfer deadline day with sporting directors of all the clubs meeting up at a hotel and thrashing out various deals. (It's a real thing, look it up - I think it'd be great fun!)

Anyway, let's move on to the Uefa Super Cup, via a possible transfer - of an Italian player as well - segues don't get smoother than that...

That's a great idea Jonathan (14:05), remove all the time. So if Liverpool miss out on their two top keeper targets and then meet Fulham's only goalkeepers release clause on day 4 of the transfer week, what exactly are Fulham supposed to do?

  15. Man Utd not forcing Hojlund outpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time

    Rasmus HojlundImage source, Getty Images

Rasmus Hojlund is not being forced out of Manchester United but they will help him find a new club if he decides he wants a move.

It is a fortnight since Hojlund sought out journalists in Chicago after scoring in United's pre-season victory over Bournemouth to insist he wanted to stay at Old Trafford.

However, since then, United have signed Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig in a deal worth £73.7m and Hojlund was left on the bench throughout the final pre-season friendly with Fiorentina.

While sources deny Hojlund has specifically been told he will not feature for United this season, after spending over £200m on a new-look strike force and no European football this season, it is clear opportunities for the Dane will be limited. It is understood he is now considering his situation.

Serie A giants AC Milan are at the head of a queue of clubs keen to sign Hojlund and the indications are United would be willing to accept a loan deal this season that contains an initial loan fee and an option to buy next summer to give the 22-year-old a chance to find his form.

As yet, there is no agreement on either element as Hojlund has still to make a firm decision about his short-term future.

  16. 'Man Utd ending up in no-man's land'published at 14:09 British Summer Time

Marcus Rashford of Manchester UnitedImage source, Getty Images

Rashford said Manchester United could learn from other clubs, including Liverpool, as the Red Devils look to return to winning ways.

"When Liverpool went through this, they got Klopp, they stuck with him. They didn’t win in the beginning," he told the Rest is Football Podcast.

"People only remember his final few years when he was competing with [Manchester] City and winning the biggest trophies – he certainly didn’t win for three years.

"To start a transition, you have to make a plan and stick to it. But this is where I speak about being realistic with what your situation is.

"I feel like we’ve had that many different managers and different ideas and different strategies in order to win… you end up in no man’s land."

Transfer window should be only a 1 week window. How many transfers are last minute? I think it would make better signings if there was a shorter window to do business and clear things up quicker.

  18. 'Man Utd's direction always changing'published at 13:59 British Summer Time

    Marcus RashfordImage source, Getty Images

Marcus Rashford also chatted about Manchester United's recent struggles, saying his moves away from the club have given him clarity on the situation.

"If your direction’s always changing, you can’t expect to be able to win the league," Rashford said.

"We’ve been way below where we deem United to be. But then if you take a step back, which I’ve been able to do, especially over the last six months – what do you expect?

"People say we’ve been in a transition for years. To be in a transition, you have to start the transition. So it’s like the actual transition’s not started yet."

  19. 'I'm harder on myself than anyone can be'published at 13:54 British Summer Time

    Marcus RashfordImage source, Getty Images

Marcus Rashford has been on The Rest is Football podcast, speaking about his season-long loan move to Barcelona.

The 27-year-old also talked about how he has dealt with criticism after being dropped by Ruben Amorim at United last season.

"I always have something to prove to myself. I'm more hard on myself than anyone can be on me," Rashford said.

"I ignore a lot of people, but it’s not a defence mechanism – I just have my own version of what I deem to be good.

"It's not necessarily about being upset. Yeah, it's frustrating, but the be all and end all is, if it leads to trophies, everything gets put aside. Your individual career is nothing without the team version, and that's a part of football I love."

  20. Jadon Sancho to Besiktas?published at 13:50 British Summer Time

    SanchoImage source, Getty Images

Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho has endured another summer of uncertainty after Chelsea opted to pay a £5m penalty instead of making his loan move permanent.

The 25-year-old has one year remaining on his United contract, and has been linked with Juventus and former club Borussia Dortmund.

However, now supporters of another club are trying to influence his next move. Besiktas have been linked with the winger, and thousands of fans of the Turkish giants have been commenting "come to Besiktas" on his social media posts.

The Turkish club’s president is quoted as saying they will do their best to sign him if Sancho wants to join.

A move to Istanbul would see Sancho reunite with former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and England striker Tammy Abraham.
