Serie A outfit Roma are interested in Manchester United's unwanted England winger Jadon Sancho.

United are sticking to their desire to sell Sancho, who returned to the club in the summer after Chelsea paid a £5m penalty to get out of an obligation to buy the 25-year-old after he spent last season on loan at Stamford Bridge.

Juventus have a long standing interest in Sancho but Roma are also looking at whether a move is possible.

Fulham are in talks to sign Brazilian winger Kevin from Shakhtar Donetsk for what would likely end up being a record fee.

The 22-year-old is expected to cost more than the club record £34m paid to Arsenal for Emile Smith Rowe last summer.

Those close to the negotiations have explained that a gap remains between the clubs' valuations, with Shakhtar holding out for £43m. There is an expectation however, that £39m may be enough.

Reports have suggested a bid of up to £37m has been lodged and rejected by the Ukrainian champions.

Manager Marco Silva is believed to want two additional wingers amid talks about re-signing Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson and having let Willian leave the club in the summer for the second time.

Already this season, Kevin has four goals and two assists in three Europa League qualifying matches, having registered nine goals and four assists in 35 games in 2024-25 across all competitions.

Liverpool are also trying to sign 18-year-old Parma centre-back Giovanni Leoni.

The Italy Under-19 international is not seen as a potential rival for Guehi but more as one for the future.

He began his career at Padova and had a short spell at Sampdoria before joining Parma last summer.

Seems to me that Guehi has Palace over a barrel, given that Parish could lose him for free next season, whereas Isak has a few years left on his contract, so if anything, Eddie Howe could theoretically banish Isak to the wilderness.

  8. Carragher wants balance over spendingpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time

    LiverpoolImage source, Getty Images

Jamie Carragher has warned Liverpool that "spending lots of money" won't guarantee them the Premier League title after the Reds won the trophy with four matches to spare last season.

Arne Slot has so far recruited five senior players this summer in Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong and Armin Pecsi and it is looking increasingly likely that Newcastle's Alexander Isak could join.

The Reds are also pursuing Crystal Palace central defender Marc Guehi but Liverpool legend Carragher believes any success comes down to balance over spending.

"I don't get this narrative that Liverpool are going to run away with it," Carragher said.

"If you look at history, it could tell you that it's not just about having the best players, it's about having the best team, and sort of making that balance right, and at the weekend [in the Community Shield] it didn't quite look right.

"I think we will have a title race, and I think there's a lot of talk. I think the great thing about football is what we actually saw on Sunday with Liverpool.

"It didn't look right. It tells me it's not just about spending lots of money and buying the best players, you've still got to manage that team and make it work and have a nice balance to it."

I feel for the Newcastle fans, the Isak drama reminds me a little of when it became known Stan Collymore wanted to leave Forest after 2 quite brilliant seasons back in the 90s. He was worshipped at the City Ground. It felt like a bereavement. Football - bloody hell.

  10. 'It's Liverpool or nothing for Guehi'published at 12:45 British Summer Time

    Sami Mokbel
    BBC Sport Senior football correspondent

Ultimately for Marc Guehi, it is Liverpool or nothing this summer.

That isn't an ideal scenario for Crystal Palace, who were hoping for an auction. But the alternative is losing him for nothing next summer - when he may end up joining the Reds on a free transfer anyway.

While Palace ideally want £40m for Guehi, it may be that they get a deal worth around £35m plus add-ons.

The south London club have reluctantly engaged in talks to sell their captain and if all goes to plan, an agreement should follow in the coming days.

Parish will sanction Guehi's sale through gritted teeth.

He'd like the defender to stay and sign a new deal, but the likelihood of that is virtually non-existent.

Selling to Liverpool - or losing Guehi for nothing - now appear to be Palace's only options.

Liverpool have held initial talks with Crystal Palace over making a move for England centre-back Marc Guehi.

Palace captain Guehi has a year left on his contract, but chairman Steve Parish said earlier this week he could be sold to avoid him moving on a free transfer in 12 months' time.

Sources have told BBC Sport that Liverpool are looking to sign the 25-year-old before the summer transfer window shuts.

Liverpool have held initial talks with a view to signing Crystal Palace and England centre-back Marc Guehi this summer.

If the clubs do agree a deal for Guehi, the defender may need to be persuaded that a move to Anfield is the right one for him.

Aside from the financial element of his personal terms, the level of playing time he will be afforded will also be a factor.

The defender is a regular at Palace and, in a World Cup year, first-team football will be a crucial consideration for the centre-back.

FA Cup winners Palace are believed to want £40m for Guehi, given he only has 12 months left on his contract, but Liverpool want to pay less than that.

We are talking about a 23-year-old player who has the pace, the physicality, the brain to be a success in the Premier League.

I think Malick Thiaw is in the right place now because he is a very good defender.

I think he is tailormade for the Premier League. He has all the attributes – he is strong, he is robust, he always put his foot on the line and is very good at stopping and blocking crosses.

The only thing he lacks is he needs to add that nasty streak into his game. Sometimes he is too nice. If he can be a bit more of a no-nonsense defender then he can get all the way up to Nemanja Vidic and John terry levels.

  16. 'If Thiaw can be a natural leader then the sky is the limit'published at 12:07 British Summer Time

Sometimes his technical awareness is not where it should be, but I’m sure Eddie Howe and his coaching staff will get him up and firing from that point of view too.

He has evolved but sometimes it takes him a while to get over a mistake and that is a little bit his weakness. He makes a mistake and then it can happen that he makes another mistake in the same game.

But, he is a brilliant defender. He is very quick for his size – he is 6ft5 – and has very good feet for a centre-back.

He can drive out of the defence and pick a pass, he can go long, he can go short, can play the killer pass and, many strikers these days know when to drop and take the defender with them, but Malick Thiaw knows when to go with the striker and when to stay deep. He is very intelligent.

He is not a natural leader, but if he can be a natural leader then the sky is the limit.

Who is to say that Isak gets his ‘dream’ move to Liverpool, and then plays the whole saga again in 2 or 3 years. Possibly damaged goods? As a red I am torn…

Dominic Calvert-Lewin spent nine years at Everton after joining from Sheffield United in 2016, during which time he scored 71 goals in 274 appearances.

His time at Goodison Park was plagued by injuries, and though talks about a new contract were held last summer, an agreement was never reached.

The forward will be Leeds' eighth signing of the summer as they return to the Premier League, and their second new striker after Lukas Nmecha joined from Wolfsburg.

Calvert-Lewin has scored four goals in 11 appearances for England, though his most recent cap came in 2021.

I very much hope to be proved wrong but Leeds signing DCL is mediocre and uninspiring. He's nearly always injured, doesn't score consistently, is off form and his journey is similar to Bamford, who we already have! Praying we manage to survive this season but not feeling great.
