  1. 'It has gone stale at the Emirates'published at 18:42 Greenwich Mean Time

FT: Arsenal 1-1 Man Utd (Man Utd win 5-3 on penalties)

    Theo Walcott
Former England forward on BBC One

Arsenal have gone from being a free-flowing forward line, exciting the crowd to going a bit stale at the Emirates.

They want to be hard to beat without creating too much right now.

You need players to do something different and they haven't got that at the moment.

The other night someone on here said that Arteta was channeling his inner Wenger with his comments. I fear that person was right. His comment about why the ball isn't going in the net is madness. No Mikel, it's because we don't have a striker. Havertz is great, as a 10. Odegaard just doesn't have many options to play the ball in behind. Wrighty said it the other season "we need a killer". Another season wasted.

26 shots in the game. 55 touches in the opposition box, but only one goal.

  4. 'Arsenal should have won the game'published at 18:36 Greenwich Mean Time

FT: Arsenal 1-1 Man Utd (Man Utd win 5-3 on penalties)

    Micah Richards
Former England defender on BBC One

Arsenal should have won the game, but it wasn't meant to be.

Looking at Man Utd's best players it was their defenders and goalkeeper.

You have got to put away the chances and that's more the concern for Arsenal.

  5. 'We have to do it every week'published at 18:34 Greenwich Mean Time

FT: Arsenal 1-1 Man Utd (Man Utd win 5-3 on penalties)

    Manchester United

Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes, speaking to BBC One: "Obviously the circumstances of the game we played with one less we suffered a lot but we sacrificed a lot as a team and at the end you get this

On Altay Bayindir's performance: "It's a big moment for him, the first penalty and another save here and we are really happy for him. It's tough to be second goalkeeper, he came here to play, whenever he gets his chance he's top class for us, he's top class in training, he's always available for everyone and he truly deserves this moment.

"I know we want to celebrate and everything but our focus is now Southampton, that is when we have to back it up. The big games against Liverpool, Arsenal, everyone steps up because it's a big game. You want to be in these kinds of games, you want to be involved, you want to be the best but we have to do it in Old Trafford with these fans again. We have to give it back for the club. We need to do it every week, every game."

As a Man United fan, I can't say I care too much about any Arsenal misfortune. Cannot believe, however, that some Arsenal 'fans' are now complaining about Arteta. Arsenal are exactly where they've been for some time now: in contention!! Be very careful what you wish for Arsenal fans. The only way is down for your very good team.

FT: Arsenal 1-1 Man Utd (Man Utd win 5-3 on penalties)

    Micah Richards

The difference between Arsenal winning the league or winning these ties is just a centre-forward.

Kai Havertz has played well this season, but he is not a natural goalscorer - he is more of an number 10.

FT: Arsenal 1-1 Man Utd (Man Utd win 5-3 on penalties)

    Micah Richards
Former England defender on BBC One

On Altay Bayındır starting ahead of Andre Onana...

    It is hard.

We don't want to be reactionary Altay Bayındır had a good game today, but the thing with Andre Onana, he makes a lot of mistakes.

  12. 'Outstanding Bayandir took his opportunity'published at 18:24 Greenwich Mean Time

FT: Arsenal 1-1 Man Utd (Man Utd win 5-3 on penalties)

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

    Altay Bayandir was absolutely outstanding.

He holds his nerve, he doesn't blink first.

It was a three-way tie between him and [Matthijs] De Ligt and [Harry] Maguire who I thought were also superb but just because of his penalty save, I thought I would give it to him [the man of the match award].

When you get given an opportunity, you have to take it and he took it today.

FT: Arsenal 1-1 Man Utd (Man Utd win 5-3 on penalties)

    Micah Richards

The fact that Manchester United are not rotating as much - when Ruben Amorim come in, they were changing all sorts of positions.

But now they look like a side who have got loads to improve on, but as a structure of five [at the back] they look real secure.

  14. FULL-TIMEpublished at 18:21 Greenwich Mean Time

This doesn't look the same Arsenal from the last two seasons. Looks like the fight and belief isn't quite there. And another potential trophy gone.

    Kev

Arteta under massive pressure now. Out of the FA Cup, almost out of the Carabao Cup and six points behind in the league.

    Keith

I do wonder how many more seasons of winning nothing the Arsenal board are willing to put up with. Don't seem to actually be getting closer under Arteta right now.

Proper fans get behind their team when they’re having a tough time so I’m backing these boys to win the NLD & get the season going ahead. The three ten-day breaks when the 4th, 5th & QF rounds take place may prove to be a massive blessing in disguise.

Interesting cup draw, lot of premier league teams away to lower league opposition. TV guys have plenty of options to find a shock!
