Kathleen McGovern netted twice for Hibs

Hibernian moved to within two points of Glasgow City after beating the SWPL leaders at Meadowbank.

Hibs got off to a flying start when Kathleen McGovern headed beyond Lee Gibson after just three minutes before Eilidh Adams did the same from a corner three minutes later.

Brenna Lovera managed to pull one back for the visitors when she rifled her strike into the top of the net from close range.

Adams thought she had bagged Hibs' third when she tapped in following a stretching save from Gibson but the striker was offside.

It was her strike partner McGovern who did get Hibs' clincher deep into first-half added time. The goal was practically a carbon copy of Adams' earlier on as McGovern rose highest to head into the back of the net following a pinpoint delivery from Ciara Grant.

City struggled to deal with Hibs' pace and energy as the game wore on and did not manage to carve out any clear chances in the latter stages. Amy Muir fired over the hosts' crossbar in the final 10 minutes.

Victory keeps Hibs level on points with Rangers, who defeated Spartans 3-0.
