    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor, speaking on BBC Two about winning the league on Wednesday: "I was probably not expecting Arsenal to drop points before the game but that's a really nice feeling and great achievement for sure.

"I said from the beginning of the season, our DNA , our mentality is to step on the pitch every game to win and the game today is no different. We want to come here, have a good performance and get the three points. We want to stay unbeaten for sure and stay on top."

Birmingham v London City Lionesses (14.15 BST)

    Ellen White
Former Birmingham City striker on BBC 5 Live

It's been immensely transformed since I was there. We used to train on a park, a rugby field. It was horrendous conditions, but we stuck together and we had amazing staff working for literally nothing.

Now they train full time at the club, they get fed - we never had that, we came with a packed lunch. Hope Powell [Birmingham technical director and former England manager] has been banging the drum - the men have another physio, we want another physio.

Birmingham v London City Lionesses (14.15 BST)

    Ellen White
Former Birmingham City striker on BBC 5 Live

It has been a continually changing top of the Championship, it has been really interesting.

In our leagues, it is so exciting seeing clubs be promoted. But it is so challenging only having one club go up, the clubs below need so much investment to get into that spot.

  12. 'Crazy if Lionesses reach WSL'published at 14:11 British Summer Time 4 May

Birmingham v London City Lionesses (14.15 BST)

    Ellen White
Former Manchester City striker on BBC 5 Live

It'll be very historic if they get into the WSL, it'd be crazy and eye-opening to see what goes on - can they bring in more players to bolster the club? They are well backed, they have a lot of money.

I have played for Birmingham, but having a club not affiliated with a men's team is fascinating to see. If Lionesses go up, they will invest again. They will be more on TV and able to attract players. It's not all about the money, but it does matter.

Sitting 10th in the table with two matches remaining, Tottenham are on course for their lowest ever Women’s Super League finish.

Robert Vilahamn’s side have won just five of their 20 matches, with their most recent league victory came against now-relegated Crystal Palace on 26 January, Their eight-match winless streak is the longest in the top tier.

Reflecting on Tottenham’s season ahead of their meeting with champions Chelsea, Vilahamn said his side have “created the position we’re in” by not beating the teams around them but will “learn a lot from this season”.

In their past four matches, Tottenham have lost to West Ham (seventh) and Aston Villa (ninth) and drawn with Leicester (11th).

“We’ve created the position we’re in. There’s a few games I think we should’ve won, a few games against teams around us. If we had won those games, we’d be in fifth place," he said.

“We are underachieving but it’s a few small games that could have made the table look a little bit better.

“To be honest, I don’t care if we are fifth or 10th. We need to be much better in being consistent when we play.

“We’ll learn a lot from this season. It’s not a good season. We’re not happy with it.”

With Crystal Palace going straight back down I thinks it’s time to either increase the size of the WSL or have a two up two down before the WSL becomes too elitist. It will be interesting to see what the reporters think.

The good news for any Chelsea fans out there is that Sonia Bompastor is hungry for more success. She wants to keep winning.

"This is an obsession for me," the Blues boss said. "I'm never satisfied. When we win I want to win with having more goals difference or defending better or scoring more goals."

Bompastor also said that feeling the "best version" of herself helped her to guide Chelsea to a sixth straight WSL triumph.

"I'm lucky enough to have the squad with a lot of quality and talent, I'm lucky enough to have ownership to support the women's team in this club, I'm lucky enough to have the sporting directors who are always behind me," she said.

"From almost the beginning, I felt home."

  19. 'Utd defended for their lives'published at 14:08 British Summer Time 4 May

FT: Man Utd 2-2 Man City

    Lindsay Johnson
Ex-England defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

What a second half from Man Utd. They didn't have much of the ball, backs against the wall, just defending for their lives and they get over the line. You can see how much it means for them to consolidate that Champions League spot, and they've got the FA cup final to look forward to.

To do it against Man City and prevent them from getting a Champions League spot as well means a little bit more to them.

The City players look despondent and they're on their knees after a disappointing season for them.

Utd, what a game for them and they came out with the point that they need to get those Champions League spots.

Sonia Bompastor was asked in her news conference if she had heard from Emma Hayes after Chelsea wrapped up a sixth successive Women's Super League title.

"Yeah, we text each other," Bompastor answered.

"Se said she was so happy for the club, for myself, for the players. She's so proud of everyone. And yeah, it was nice to have our text as usual."
