Summary

  1. 'Tough times make top teams'published at 15:10 British Summer Time 4 May

FT: Man Utd 2-2 Man City

    Manchester City

Man City interim boss Nick Cushing speaking to Sky: "It's painful. I said to the group that this falls below the standards of what we set at the start of the season and what we expect, but it's football and it's been a challenging moment for us. I'm proud of the players' character today to push until the end. Just unfortunate not to get the three points."

On the character shown: "It's the only thing we've got, it's the only thing we've had. We have players coming back but we are still missing key players. We knew today we would have to have character to be in this game and we showed a lot of it. We know this is about a reaction, it's about a reaction for our fans going into the Crystal Palace game and it's about a reaction to make sure we are challenging for trophies and Champions League places.

"When I took this interim role on it was with the objective of winning trophies and qualifying for the Champions League and we have fallen short, we haven't been able to be able to deliver that. There is context behind that and there is a lot of challenging moments that has made it difficult. Man City just missed out on the league last year and we have to get back to challenging for tropgies. When I look in the players' eyes it's painful to know we are not in Champions League but this group will give a reaction."

On what's next for him: "I am still with City Football Group, I have been with the group for a long time. Whether I take up a role within the group or outside the group, we'll have that conversation. I had a remit up until today mathematically that was possible. We have Crystal Palace to prepare for and my focus is there. I will always say we because it is engrained in me. It disappoints me that I couldn't deliver. I remember being at our stadium in 2014 when Chelsea lost the league on the last day. Look at them now Tough times make top teams and you have to make sure you put that work in."

  2. 'It's going to take a little bit of sinking in'published at 15:10 British Summer Time 4 May

FT: Man Utd 2-2 Man City

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Marc Skinner speaking to Sky: "It's going to take a little bit of sinking in. We have had a fantastic season so far. To show the grit to come back from 2-0 down, to go down to 10 players and take a result just shows the character.

"Not a lot of pundits had us finishing in the top three. I don't think there was one. It just shows the growth of this team and also how far we have to travel. We have two big games left but to get it done today means the world. I might even have a beer tonight."

On Melvine Malard's goal: "If there was anyone in our team to do that, I just knew Mel could do that. She has had to be patient but has grown massively in this last year. I am proud of her but of the whole team."

On getting recruitment right for next season: "We have to recruit for Champions League. We have to do that as a club. Man City only slipped off because of their injuries. We have to recruit well this summer. We have to set our target to qualify for the Champions League now which is going to require recruitment to the highest level."

  3. Postpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 4 May

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Leicester

We've got a stoppage in play here so both sets of players have taken the opportunity to come over to their managers and take on some more instructions.

  4. 'All comes down to Macario's quality'published at 15:09 British Summer Time 4 May

    HT: Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Two

Tottenham were excellent in the first 20 minutes and they looked really up for it against a disjointed Chelsea who seemed a little stunned at times and didn't know how to handle it.

Lize Kop hasn't had much to do, Hannah Hampton has made the big save of the match with that breakaway from Charlotte Grant, who should've put the ball in the back of the net.

It comes down to a bit of quality from Catarina Macario, who is the one remaining forward for Chelsea.

  5. 'We tried until the last minute'published at 15:07 British Summer Time 4 May

FT: Man Utd 2-2 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City's Laia Aleixandri speaking to Sky: "I'm grateful for the goal but today the most important thing was the three points. We will get together, we will be better I'm sure. It's sad today because we didn't get the victory.

"The game was all about battles, all about this hunger to win. The team showed that and we tried until the last minute but we didn't get the win."

On a challenging season: "It has been vert challenging, I think difficult situations, a lot of injuries but that's not a reason to give up. We tried until the last minute, the last game. We need to keep going, we need to get better."

"Sometimes when there's obstacles we need to get together and not give up. That is what we did but it was hard for us. We will be better and we will be a winning team I'm sure."

On a clean slate next season: "This club, this team wants to fight for everything. It's the mentality and we need to keep that mentality and fight for everything. That is what we are going to do."

  6. Postpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 4 May

    West Ham 0-1 Aston Villa

  7. 'These are the games every player wants to play in'published at 15:06 British Summer Time 4 May

FT: Man Utd 2-2 Man City

    Manchester United

Man Utd captain Maya Le Tissier speaking to Sky: "It was very stressful. But as soon as we went down to 10 I really believed we were going to do it. We are a team that can dig deep and get results when we need to. It was so stressful but I'm really glad we got the job done.

"These are the games every player wants to play in. We want to play games where things are on the line and the pressure is on and that is where real players are made under the pressure."

On securing a top-three finish: "We knew we had a tough end to the season. It would have been nice to get the job done earlier but this happened and all we needed was a couple more points on the board and we've done it. What better way to do it than at Old Trafford against City. Not a lot of players have been in this position before. It's really special."

On facing Arsenal on final day: "We can enjoy that game now. There's not as much pressure. It's going to be fun now we have Champions League."

  18. 'Grant will be so disappointed'published at 14:59 British Summer Time 4 May

    Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Two

Ashley Lawrence completely switches off and plays Charlotte Grant onside.

It was the simplest of finishes, she'll be so disappointed.

That gives something for the crowd to get on their feet.

  19. Postpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 4 May

Birmingham City 0-0 London City Lionesses

Five minutes before the interval, and the Lionesses are millimetres from taking the lead.

Birmingham keeper Ali Franch fumbles a cross, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah turns the ball towards the line and Rebecca Holloway has to make a last gasp hooked clearance.

There's no goalline technology in the Women's Championship, but that looked very close to crossing the line.

Franch then makes some amends with a fine low save one on one from Izzy Goodwin. Lionesses are ending this half on top.

  20. Postpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 4 May

    Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea

    You've got to score those.

Ashley Lawrence switches off and plays Charlotte Grant onside, and the Australian finds herself through on goal and in a one-on-one situation with the Chelsea keeper.

Grant hesitates over her shot, and by the time she's taken it Hannah Hampton is off her line and has smothered the ball.
