Drama already at Holker Street!

Doncaster Rovers break into the Barrow half and Luke Molyneux goes bursting forward.

His first touch is slightly too heavy though and takes the ball away from him, leading to Barrow keeper Paul Farman drifting off his line to clear.

It's a close race between him and Molyneux but the keeper just about gets there first, with the Rovers man falling to the ground.

The away fans appeal for a penalty but it's actually Rovers forward Harry Clifton who sees yellow for a foul in the aftermath.

Doncaster Rovers are enjoying a good start to 2025.

So far this year, they've accumulated nine points out of a possible 12 (W3 L1) and knocked out Championship club Hull City to advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

However, while their placements on table might be far apart, Barrow have caused Rovers some headaches in recent years.

Doncaster have lost both of their past two trips to Holker Street and haven't fared well away from home in general this season, having only won six of their past 13 away league games (D3 L4).

If Rovers do manage to make it third time lucky against their hosts, this will be the first time they've done a league double over the Bluebirds since 1964-65.

Victory will also come with the added bonus of claiming second best in the league too and with leaders Walsall defeated for second successive time yesterday, who knows what three points might mean come the end of the season.

One game, three valuable points.

It's been a victorious start to life at Barrow for new boss Andy Whing after his side ended a five match winless streak with their 3-0 victory over Grimsby Town on Saturday.

It marked not only Whing's first game in charge but also the Bluebirds' first win of 2025, a celebratory way to echo in a new era.

But Whing finds himself yet another tough opponent tonight with an eye on being one of the very best in the league.

Visitors Doncaster beat Barrow in the reverse fixture and see themselves mixing around the top, with the Cumbrian side lingering around the other end of the table in 18th.

Can Whing keep the party at Holker Street going a little longer and claw their way up the table?

So tight it is at the top of League Two that one point would not be enough to see Doncaster Rovers make any kind of movement.

Though take all three points tonight, however, and they rise all the way to second place, cutting the gap to leaders Walsall to nine points in the process.
