Republic of Ireland have lost their first three Euro 2025 qualifiers without scoring a goal

Republic of Ireland lost their third consecutive Euro 2025 qualifier as they fell 3-0 to Sweden at the Aviva Stadium.

In front of a crowd of over 22,000, Eileen Gleeson's side made a promising start as Lily Agg trickled a shot wide on 20 minutes.

However, they were caught out just before the half-hour mark by rapid Swedish movement and Johanna Kaneryd finished superbly.

Amber Barrett had the best chance of the game for the hosts just before the break when she headed over from six yards via Jessica Ziu's pinpoint cross from the right.

In the second half, the hosts continued to battle but were picked off again on the hour mark as Barcelona superstar Fridolina Rolfo finished nicely after controlling Filippa Angeldal's cross to the back post.

With Eileen Gleeson throwing on attackers in an attempt to rescue the game, this left her side vulnerable at the back and Kaneryd grabbed her second and her side's third with just over five to go.

After a good save from Courtney Brosnan, the Chelsea forward was quickest to the rebound to finish via the crossbar.

The girls in green travel to Solna for the return game on Tuesday looking for their first goal and first point in this qualifying campaign.

After Arsenal star Katie McCabe was substituted late on, her involvement in that game will be in question while Denise O'Sullivan has already been ruled out.
