    Bradford City

Bradford City manager Graham Alexander has been talking to BBC Radio Leeds after a 96th-minute goal won his side promotion from League Two:

"I'm overwhelmed at the moment - we've been put through the wringer for the last month.

"Even this morning I was driving in thinking about the different scenarios and thinking of the worst one and working back and we were on the verge of the worst one.

"It was going to take something crazy like that - the players never gave up and they haven't all season.

"It's the best day of my career - you have to work and work for these moments, keep turning up, never go away.

"You want to be part of a club, part of a group forever and to do that you have to win and now we are part of this team forever, 10 years, 20 years from now.

"Hopefully for everyone who was affected by the fire 40 years ago this is some small solace that they can feel proud of their team and their club.

"It's my twin girls birthday today - last time I played on their birthday was 16 years ago I scored twice for Burnley and everyone has been telling me it's fate - I wish I'd have known that but I'll take it all day long because that's a moment everyone will remember forever."

"It's been a journey, we never give up, it's not been all plain sailing, this is a story of never giving up.

"What a moment, I have no words for this. It's unbelievable, I've not dreamt this.

"If I had known this morning, I would've been fine, we weren't a million miles away from thinking about the play-offs, but in a second it changed, I'm short of words.

"It's hard but it's a dream, it's a pleasure and a privilege, it's not about me, the stats are unbelievable and we're super talented people here.

"This is for the people no one sees, it's not for me it's for them. There's been some difficult times, but the people have stood behind me, my wife, my family.

"We're going to fight in League One."

"I'm absolutely delighted. I just can't hide the joy I feel for this football club.

"It means everything to me. Every manager will tell you they dream of promotion and being successful with their club. To see Vale Park full, it shows as a fanbase we are there and we are connected.

"We've had consistency and great support throughout the season. Today has been an outstanding ending to the season, I'm so please it's ended with promotion. I'm so grateful for the supporters. I want to give a personal thank you to those fans out there today.

"I'm so happy to be back in League One and we will go from there. I have a few things I want to organise for next season but today is about celebrating. It's a fantastic level to be in, we want to be competing with the likes of those teams."

Chesterfield striker Will Grigg was the hero for this side this afternoon, scoring the winner for the Spirerites at Accrington to clinch the final League Two play-off place.

    He told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"It was a hard watch from the bench in the final 10 minutes but we are really pleased with the result.

"Scoring from seven yards out is a worldie for me! But it was a great team goal.

"You try not to focus on anywhere else but you know what is going on. Our nervousness came out a bit towards the end, but the lads defended really well.

"The staff and the gaffer have been unbelievable in keeping us focused all week, and this result is a real credit to them.

"There were no wild celebrations because we have three massive games to come, and we will do everything we can to get ourselves ready for those.

"It's been a remarkable couple of seasons, and it's a massive credit to the group to put together a run like this at this time of the season."

Terry Skiverton, Wimbledon's assistant boss told BBC Radio London:

"As a team we've been through quite a lot of adversity this season with our pitch and falling four games behind.

"What we have done is stick together as a football club and we get to the scenario today where it's in our own hands - there's been good progression since we've been here and we're enjoying the journey.

"You enjoy it for about three or four minutes and then people come in and tell you who you're facing in the play-offs so we'll get back on the coach, we'll have a few beers and sort out what we'll do next week."

Leyton Orient are into the League One play-offs for the first time since since 2014 after a sixth win in a row.

Boss Richie Wellens has been talking to BBC Radio London:

"The result is the most important thing and we made it pretty comfortable in the end.

"On transition, when teams press us that high we are dangerous and we've worked on that a lot - our counter-attacking was excellent today and we could have scored one or two more in the first half.

"In November I was thinking 'let's just stay safe' but when we won at Wrexham (in February) I thought we could get top two - with eight games to go I'd have taken play-offs.

    "We've got nothing to lose."

Walsall will face Chesterfield in the League Two play-offs after finishing fourth, narrowly missing out on an automatic promotion place by one point.

Walsall boss Mat Sadler speaking to BBC Radio WM:

"My ears were pricked to the crowd the whole game because you know if it carries on 0-0, you only need one moment.

"I thought the supporters were unbelievable today, from minute one to the very end.

"I thought they players were fantastic today. We showed real resilience and a calmness in the situation that was in front of us. Disappointing, of course it is, that we didn't see the job off today.

"Now we've got to dust ourselves off and come out fighting again."

  14. Bradford promotedpublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 3 May

    FT: Bradford 1-0 Fleetwood

Promotion ends Bradford's six-year spell in League Two and marks their first automatic promotion since 1999.

Boss Graham Alexander won the division's manager of the year award at the EFL awards on Sunday after overseeing a great turnaround in their season.

The West Yorkshire side were 12th on Christmas Day after a 3-0 defeat at Notts County on 21 December but a club-record run of 10 straight home victories set them on their way to an ultimately successful promotion charge.

Results at Valley Parade, so often their Achilles heel in previous seasons, has been key to their success.

Their winning run spell was brought to a surprise end by struggling Tranmere on 15 March but, boosted by reduced price tickets, they bounced back in front of their fourth-tier record attendance of 23,381 with a thumping 4-1 win over Colchester the following week.

With previous runaway table-toppers Walsall floundering, the 2-0 home victory over play-off chasing Crewe on Saturday, 5 April saw the Bantams end a day on top of a league table for the first time since September 2008.

Oddly, those home successes were their only two victories in a run of 10 games going into the final day as the pressure of a first automatic promotion since 1999, when they went up to the Premier League, looked to weigh on the team.

Thankfully for their long-suffering fans they found form just when it mattered most to beat Fleetwood in the final seconds and elated fans streamed on to the pitch as the full-time whistle went.

They will now hope to carry this momentum into next season and a first third-tier campaign since 2018-19.

Doncaster sail towards the title with little drama.

Their 2-1 victory over Notts County sees them holding the trophy on the final day, while Chesterfield book their slot in the play-offs as the only contender to take victory.

While for Walsall, it can't hurt much more.

They won for only a third time in 21 games and while it seemed like that would be just enough after a dazzling first half to the season, it wasn't.

Bradford scored in added time with a last-gasp effort to seal promotion, the scenes pure chaos as fans invaded the pitch before the final whistle had been set to the referee's lips.

Not matter how you feel about it, that is football at its finest - entertainment like no other.

There we are then, confirmation Leyton Orient have secured the final League One play-off spot and will face Stockport County in the semi-finals.

Having been second for so long this season, Wycombe drop to fifth place with a home defeat by Stockport and will meet a Charlton side who beat them 4-0 a fortnight ago.

Birmingham have lifted the trophy this afternoon with a record 111 points and Wrexham will join them in the Championship next season.

League One also waves goodbye to Shrewsbury, Cambridge United, Bristol Rovers and Crawley Town.
