Liverpool v Tottenham (Sun, 16:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on facing Tottenham: "There's a game to be played against a Tottenham side who are playing for something special - not in the league but in the Europa League and they will want to prepare for it in the best possible way.

"We are only focused on the next opponent as always, and that is Tottenham now. So we will try to prepare the team same as we've done all season. Hopefully the players can bring the same energy and mentality that they've brought throughout the whole season.

"And we are expecting the same from the fans."

  2. 'We have a job to do'published at 09:23 British Summer Time 25 April

Liverpool v Tottenham (Sun, 16:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot, speaking before facing Tottenham, on the prospect of winning the Premier League title at Anfield: "It's a big responsibility. We are aware that the last time this club won the league was during the Covid time. So everybody is looking forward to Sunday.

"But we know there's still a job to do. We need at least one point. That is what we know and, hopefully, what our fans know as well when they come to the stadium that they support us in the best possible way as they have done all season, but also be aware of the fact that we still need a point.

"It's a nice game to look forward to but also a responsibility we have for Sunday."

Lifelong Liverpool fan here - regrettably Fergie was the master and Pep reinvented the game. Big Jurg was the man who made our club relevant again. Will always love him for it. But massive credit to Slot, his calm demeanour and tactical switch to best enable his players and win this league. A new club legend being born.

Liverpool v Tottenham (Sun, 16:30 BST)

"It was a very good performance from them as a team and there were a few very good individual performances as well."

Can the BBC please give some air time for grass roots football in the National League South! Now there's a title race on a knife edge. The top six can all still win the title and if my maths is correct, it is possible they all finish on 86 points and it is then down to goal difference.

They've won 24 and drawn seven. They've also scored the most goals in the league with 75.

I'm running the London marathon on Sunday. Hopefully I'll be back home in time to watch the end of the Liverpool match.

    Manish

Going up to Liverpool on Sunday to enjoy the celebrations. I have work the next day, how do I ask my boss if I can 'work from home' on Monday? He’s a West Ham fan….help required!

That's the logical answer isn't it? That winning the FA Cup trumps Champions League qualification...

Heart ruling head for a moment, for most football clubs winning anything is a rare experience and should always be celebrated over merely qualifying for a competition.

But when that competition is as lucrative and potentially transformative as the Champions League, that's when the financial realities of the question start to kick in.

As a Villa fan, winning the cup would be much more important. You can't put '5th place' in a trophy cabinet!

    Matt

Definitely winning the FA Cup over qualifying for the Champions League. Winning a trophy when the chance comes along, especially one as prestigious as the FA Cup, is remembered forever and a success that fans of few teams ever experience.

We wonder if Dan will regret sending us that message?

Right, we are getting closer to the first news conference of the day, with Liverpool boss Arne Slot scheduled to speak to the media from 09:00 BST.

Newcastle's Eddie Howe will be next up, and we will bring you the top lines from both.

We will also bring you any team news from Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler before Saturday's game at home to West Ham.

While we launch in to Liverpool preview mode, we will also be publishing your messages.

So far today, we have been talking about your weekend plans, namely Liverpool's [expected] title party, the FA Cup semi-finals and whether you would rather your team qualified for the Champions League or lifted the FA Cup trophy.

Keep sending in your thoughts on any of these topics and we will publish a selection throughout the day...

Will be there to hopefully watch LFC win the league on Sunday. First time in person since 1988 v Spurs! Monday may be interesting but worth it. Poor season for everyone else, great one for us.

My wife said "don't bother coming again!” if I ditched her plans to see my mother-in-law on Sunday to go and watch the Liverpool game instead. Double result!

  17. Gossip: De Bruyne won't feature at Club World Cup in Junepublished at 08:38 British Summer Time 25 April

    Today's newspapers

    The Daily Star

Here's a potential question for Pep Guardiola when the Manchester City manager holds his news conference this lunchtime.

When it was announced three weeks ago that Kevin de Bruyne would leaving the club when his contract finishes in the summer, there was a question mark about whether he would be offered an extension to play in the Club World Cup.

That competition takes place in the United States from 14 June to 13 July.

The Star today reports that the 33-year-old Belgium international does not intend to feature as he does not want to risk an injury jeopardising his search for a new club.

#bbcfootball, via WhatsApp on 03301231826 or text 81111 (UK only, standard message rates apply)

I think some context is needed to appreciate just what an achievement this title win is. If, as expected, Liverpool win on Sunday, they'll be the joint earliest champions in Premier League history, with the joint highest margin [of victory] at the point of [the title] win. Lots of talk about other teams underperforming; but that's really only City. You generally need 90+ points to win it these days and Arsenal have never managed that. There's also been lots of chat about injuries, but Liverpool have done this with ageing superstars (like City) whilst missing a key player (Allison) for half the season, and without a fit, top quality number 9 (like Arsenal and City).

Liverpool v Tottenham (Sun, 16:30 BST)

    Liverpool

A reminder, in case you needed it, that Liverpool need a single point to be crowned Premier League champions after Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Crystal Palace in midweek.

To get the party started, the Reds have to avoid defeat against Tottenham on Sunday at Anfield - a ground where Spurs haven't won since 2011.

Off to Anfield with my son on Sunday. Never thought we would be in the title race, let alone potentially wrap it up with 5 games to go. Incredible achievement by Slot, with a solid foundation laid by Jurgen's forward planning. (Hopefully) going to be a special day. Monday may be a struggle...
