  2. 'Frustrated' Kimpioka was 'silly' - Leveinpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 14 September

    FT: Hibernian 2-0 St Johnstone

On striker Benji Kimpioka's red card, St Johnstone manager Craig Levein adds: "It's a really poor decision from Benji. He was frustrated - he felt he had fouls he didn't get.

"I was caught between taking him off, but he can also get you a goal, particularly when we don't have Adama Sidibeh and Uche Ikpeazu available.

"I was reticent to take him off, but maybe I should've done as his frustration boiled over. It was silly. He apologised to the lads after the game, but it doesn't help us for next week."

  3. Second half 'not good enough' - Leveinpublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 14 September

    FT: Hibernian 2-0 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Craig Levein: "I thought we were relatively good in the first half and it was a really body blow to go in behind after a good first half away from home.

"I was very frustrated with the goal right on half-time and it was a very simple goal that we should be able to deal with. We've messed up a couple of those recently, so we need to go back on the training ground to do it again.

"The second-half performance wasn't good enough and we need to do better. We made so many poor decisions with our passes second half."

  4. Thelin hails 'amazing' Gueyepublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 14 September

    FT: Aberdeen 2-1 Motherwell

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin tells BBC Scotland: "It was an exciting game until the end - the first half was really strong from us. The second half they came out stronger, but I'm happy with how we defended together.

"It was still a good team performance to win the game."

On two-goal stiker Pape Habib Gueye, Thelin adds: "His first was amazing... the speed, how far away he was when he picked up the ball, staying cool to score.

"It was an amazing performance from him. His pressing and effort for the team is also amazing to see."

  5. Docherty questions VAR callpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 14 September

    FT: Ross County 2-0 Dundee

Dundee manager Tony Docherty tells BBC Sportsound: "It was a disappointing afternoon. I thought the conditions really contributed to that.

"I think whoever had the wind in the first half had the advantage. Ross County played the conditions better than us - they had the wind behind their backs in the first half.

"We lose that second goal. And I’ve got to question it. It is a VAR intervention and nobody on the pitch claimed for it.

"Ethan Ingram goes up and wins the header. He does grab Jordan White, but does that affect the play or what happens? I’m an advocate of VAR, but I think that was the wrong decision.

"The referee has seen it, he’s smelled it. Someone in the VAR room has brought it back. I don’t think it’s a penalty. I’ve spoken to some opponents who also don’t think it’s a penalty."

  6. Rodgers backs penalty callspublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 14 September

FT: Celtic 2-0 Heart of Midlothian

Hearts had a penalty overturned while Celtic had a hand ball confirmed, both by VAR.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers suggested: "By the rule, the officials were correct [to overturn the Hearts penalty award]. On the same token, if your arms up and the ball hits you, then it's going to be a penalty."

  7. Rodgers praises 'selfless' Hatatepublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 14 September

FT: Celtic 2-0 Heart of Midlothian

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers tells BBC Sportsound: "The players showed a real patience in the game. When we get our penalty, we could then move through the gears."

It was new signing Arne Engels rather than fellow midfielder Reo Hatate who stepped up to score.

"Reo was the number one taker," Rodgers explained. "That's the selflessness of Reo. The number two taker was Arne. They practiced yesterday. Both their levels were high. Arne stuck it away really well. A good performance by him."

Luke McCowan, the recent midfield signing from Dundee, scored the second and Rodgers added: "To be a Celtic supporter and get a goal at Celtic Park, what a special moment for him and his family."

  8. Wright to be fined two weeks' wages - McInnespublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 14 September

    FT: St Mirren 2-2 Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "We were the better team with 11 men. We asserted ourselves on the game, overran them in midfield, carried a threat on the sides. We were terrific.

"The moment of madness from Joe Wright is unacceptable. He'll be fined two weeks' wages for his actions. If the referee has deemed that as a punch, it is ill-discipline. Kilmarnock fans need to know that's not acceptable.

"If the referee has seen what I think I saw, it is enough for a red card."

  9. 'You could see the belief in us' - Kettlewellpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 14 September

    FT: Aberdeen 2-1 Motherwell

Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Scotland: "We're a wee bit disappointed, especially with the second half, we took a step forward.

"You could see the belief that was in our side. You could see we were trying to get out here with at least a point.

"We don't get too low, that's not an acceptance with defeat. We didn't shame ourselves.

"I spoke to the players about having a greater belief at the start of the game. We've been fine this season. There's been a lot to like."

  10. 'We complicated game against 10 men'published at 17:46 British Summer Time 14 September

    FT: St Mirren 2-2 Kilmarnock

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson: "It was eventful. When they went down to 10 men, we didn't move the ball quick enough and get enough balls into the box.

"We didn't manage the game as well as we should. We conceded two goals from set-pieces I am going to have to take the blame for that.

"It is another point, but we conceded two sloppy goals and we are conceding two goals too easily. A point was probably a fair reflection."

  11. County will 'take real confidence' - Cowiepublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 14 September

    FT: Ross County 2-0 Dundee

Ross County manager Don Cowie tells BBC Sportsound: "I thought it was a real team performance. We worked extremely hard again out of possession and we limited Dundee to very few opportunities. Those are the fundamentals and the base we want to work from. We managed to get the two goals, so I’m delighted.

"As a unit, I thought they were excellent. We were really disappointed in the way we defended away to Rangers. We have really worked on it over the last three, four weeks. It was better today. I’m really happy with how they are doing.

"We will take real confidence and belief from this game."

  12. Well worthy of win - Hibs boss Graypublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 14 September

    FT: Hibernian 2-0 St Johnstone

Hibs head coach David Gray: "That was much like us. We have seen progression in every game we have played.

"We went through an edgy time, but the goal probably relaxed us a bit and, second half, we were well worthy of the three points.

"We have real strength in depth and that's us undefeated in three."

  14. Double trouble after Euro hangoverpublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 14 September

    Scottish Premiership

Kilmarnock and Hearts remain the only two sides without a league win in the top flight this season.

Is it any coincidence that both were involved in European qualification matches?

Indeed, Hearts have now lost seven in a row since opening the season with a promising draw at home to Rangers, while Killie have gone six without winning since edging Tromso in Conference League qualifying.

  15. Top-flight recappublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 14 September

    Scottish Premiership

After today's five games, Celtic remain top after a fifth straight league win without conceding, while Aberdeen remain behind on goal difference.

Motherwell's defeat at Pittodrie means they and Dundee, who suffered their first defeat in 10 games this season, miss a chance to overtake Dundee United and Rangers in third and fourth place ahead of their meeting at Tannadice tomorrow.

Kilmarnock's draw with St Mirren lifts them off the bottom ahead of Hearts. More trouble for Tynecastle boss Steven Naismith despite a reasonable performance in losing to the reigning champions.

    • Aberdeen 2-1 Motherwell
    • Celtic 2-0 Heart of Midlothian
    • Hibernian 2-0 St Johnstone
    • Ross County 2-0 Dundee

They now lead on goal difference over Queen of the South, who handed Arbroath's new management team a defeat to leave the visitors at the foot of the table.

Meanwhile, Kelty lost their unbeaten run, losing at home to Cove, while Stenhousemuir were eased aside in Montrose.

Kilmarnock came from behind with 10 men to draw with St Mirren in a full-blooded, action-packed and breathless affair that had a 91st-minute buddies winner ruled out.

Toyosi Olusanya’s header put St Mirren ahead, but Marley Watkins responded quickly for the visitors.

The hosts went ahead again from the penalty through Mark O’Hara and, although Joe Wright was sent off, Kilmarnock grabbed a leveller when Jonah Ayunga headed into his own net.

  20. FULL-TIME - Hibernian 2-0 St Johnstonepublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 14 September

Hibs get their first Premiership win of the season - at the fifth attempt!

Goals from Mykola Kuharevich and Martin Boyle have done the job and, to be honest, Hibs deserved it after a much-improved second-half show.

St Johnstone started brightly then faded in the second half before Benjamin Kimpioka got their third red card already this season.
