That's a wrap for today's League One and Two action.

It was another action-packed day, but one of mixed emotions for Jack Wilshere, who lost his first game in charge of Luton Town after a 2-0 home defeat against Mansfield.

It was a day to forget for top of the table teams, with League One leaders Stevenage losing at lunchtime to concede top spot to Cardiff, who beat Reading in the afternoon kick-offs, while League Two table-toppers Walsall dropped points after losing at home to 10-man Barrow.

If all that drama wasn't enough there is more EFL to come today with Leicester v Portsmouth in the Championship at 19:45 BST.

We will be back with the midweek Championship fixtures on Tuesday too, lots of EFL action to look forward to.

    See you soon!

This morning's top three - Walsall, Swindon and Gillingham - all lost, allowing Paul Warne's MK Dons and Grimsby to leap into the automatic promotion places courtesy of victories over Crewe and the Gills.

Salford's derby win over Oldham in the early kick-off was enough to take them into the play-off places with the Railwaymen and Barnet losing ground, while Cambridge United and Notts County are hot on their heels.

Cheltenham's 2-0 win in the basement battle at Newport leaves County bottom and takes Town above the dotted line, with Crawley slipping to second-bottom after losing by the only goal at fellow strugglers Shrewsbury, while Accrington's eye-catching win over Swindon lifted them away from the pack.

What a day it has been in League One.

Cardiff did it the hard way, riding their luck to come from behind and beat Reading to take over at the top of the table.

Stevenage's reign was ended with a 1-0 defeat at Lincoln in the early kick-off, while Bradford missed the chance to take over at the summit themselves as they were twice pegged back by Barnsley in a 2-2 draw.

AFC Wimbledon and Stockport picked up wins to remain within a point of the leaders, while Mansfield are in the top eight after spoiling Jack Wilshere's first game in charge of Luton with a 2-0 win at Kenilworth Road.

At the other end, Peterborough are off the bottom of the table courtesy of their lunchtime win at Burton, with Blackpool dropping to the foot of the table courtesy of Wycombe's dramatic leveller at Bloomfield Road.

Reading and Burton are also in the drop-zone, while Plymouth, Exeter and Port Vale are within striking distance after narrow defeats.

It's been some day in League Two today.

Walsall suffered their first defeat in nine games in the league after a 2-1 home defeat against 10-man Barrow.

The Saddlers remain top of the league after Swindon lost at Accrington 4-0. The Robins had Ollie Clarke sent off in the first half.

MK Dons made it four wins on the bounce to go second after their 3-1 win over Crewe.

Grimsby returned to winnings ways to go third after their 1-0 win over Gillingham who had two players sent off.

Tranmere thrashed Bristol Rovers 4-1 at the Memorial Stadium for their first win in eight league games.

All change at the foot of the table as Steve Cotterill remains unbeaten in his first three games back in charge at Cheltenham. He got his second win after a huge 2-0 win over Newport with the Exiles slumping to the bottom of the league, while the Robins move out of the drop zone.

And Will Boyle's goal gave Shrewsbury a big win over 10-man Crawley.

Blackpool were hit with an agonising late equaliser in the 10th minute of stoppage time from Wycombe which saw the Tangerines end the day bottom of the table following Peterborough's lunchtime win.

A much needed 1-0 victory looked in sight after Ashley Fletcher's first half strike but Jay Grimmer broke hearts at Bloomfield Road with a late leveller.

Stockport County continued their promotion push with a home win over Exeter City, Nathan Lowe with the winning goal in a match which had a delayed kick off on account of traffic congestion around Edgeley Park.

Rotherham beat Leyton Orient by a goal to nil, Sam Nombe with the winner on 56 minutes and performance of the day deserves to go to the 10 men of Wigan who kept their heads to beat Port Vale 1-0 after Dara Costelloe was sent off at the end of the first half.

Maleace Asamoah produced what ultimately proved the winner on 56 minutes and Wigan held Vale at bay for the remainder of the half to give Latics the win and relief for Costelloe.

Northampton came from behind to beat Doncaster. Ben Close gave Rovers the lead before Ethan Wheatley and Sam Hoskins, from the spot, saw the Cobblers deliver a sucker punch and move above their victims on goal difference.

  6. 'Grimsby deserved the win'published at 17:05 BST 18 October

    FT: Grimsby 1-0 Gillingham

    Gary Croft
Former Grimsby defender on BBC Radio Humberside

There is no doubt about it Grimsby deserved the win. They made hard work of it at the end by giving away so many free-kicks with some sloppy play.

They had so much time on the ball, sometimes they didn't make the most of it, they had to just keep moving it.

The last 10 minutes the ball was getting lumped in by Gillingham, and when that happens anything can happen and it nearly did.

  7. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:59 BST 18 October

    Bradford 2-2 Barnsley

Phew. What a game this was.

Bradford are denied top spot in the table and their seven-game winning streak at home is ended.

All the points the Bantams have dropped since August have come against Yorkshire clubs.

Antoni Sarvevic's early tap-in and Stephen Humphry's neat finish from a set-piece came either side of Reyes Cleary's outrageous and audacious 60-yard strike from his own half in the opening 45 minutes, but Patrick Kelly came off the bench for Barnsley to sweep home the leveller after the turnaround and both sides spurned good chances to win it.

One final thought... please go and find a replay of Cleary's goal, you'll thank me. Puskas Award not out of the question.

  8. CLOSE!published at 16:58 BST 18 October

    Bradford 2-2 Barnsley

Kitchen sink time as Max Power's cross into the Barnsley box caused mayhem and Andy Cook sees a close-range shot blocked in the melee.

  9. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:58 BST 18 October

    Plymouth 1-2 AFC Wimbledon

The Dons have strung together six matches unbeaten with five wins and a draw after this come-from-behind win at Home Park.

Lorent Tolaj, with his fifth league goal of the campaign, gave Plymouth the lead in the seventh minute but Omar Bugiel, in the shadow of half-time, and Marcus Browne delivered another three points.

There was an element of self-inflicted pain for Plymouth with Bradley Ibrahim losing the ball and Marcus Browne taking advantage to hit home a low winner.

Tom Cleverley's recent revival hits the buffers.

  10. CLOSE!published at 16:57 BST 18 October

    Plymouth 1-2 AFC Wimbledon

Lorent Tolaj goes close with a shot from the edge of the box after he is teed up by Alex Mitchell.

Deep into five minutes of stoppage time now and Plymouth are heading for defeat.

  11. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:56 BST 18 October

    Grimsby 1-0 Gillingham

Grimsby return to winning ways with a win over nine-man Gillingham.

Charles Vernam's penalty kick resulted in the only goal of the game, in which Gills' Remeao Hutton was shown a straight red card in the first half, with team-mate Jonny Williams dismissed midway through the second given after receiving a second yellow.

Both sides swap places in the league with the Mariners moving up to third, while it's now no wins in four for Gillingham who drop down to fifth.

  12. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:54 BST 18 October

    Luton 0-2 Mansfield

The Jack Wilshere era begins with a home defeat.

Nahki Wells had the chance to put the Hatters ahead from the spot but after Liam Roberts saved his penalty, the Stags went ahead through Rhys Oates' curler before the interval.

Tyler Roberts clipped the bar for Mansfield after the turnaround but made the points safe from a penalty after Mads Andersen was penalised for handball, as the Stags moved above Luton in the League One table.

  13. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:53 BST 18 October

    Cardiff 2-1 Reading

The Bluebirds have come from behind to win at home again, and it might just be enough to take them top of League One.

Lewis Wing's trademark fizzer put the Royals ahead just before the break but Omari Kellyman and Yousef Salech turned the game on its head, but the points were earned by a stunning showing from City keeper Nathan Trott who made half-a-dozen crucial saves, many of them one-on-one, while Will Fish's goalline intervention also denied the visitors a share of the points as they remain in the drop-zone.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:52 BST 18 October

    Cardiff 2-1 Reading

Spare a thought for young City sub Cian Ashford who has been subbed just 10 minutes after coming on, replaced by Perry Ng as the Bluebirds seek to shut up shop in stoppage time.

  15. 'Luton have run out of ideas'published at 16:51 BST 18 October

    Luton 0-2 Mansfield

    Paul Cox
Ex-Mansfield manager on BBC Radio Nottingham

Luton have run out of ideas, and Mansfield are compact and seeing this game out.

I can't see Luton Town scoring here.

  16. INJURY TIMEpublished at 16:51 BST 18 October

    Grimsby 1-0 Gillingham

We're into seven minutes of added time at Blundell Park.

Gillingham have nine-men but it's still only 1-0.

As we well know, anything can happen in the EFL.

  17. Home fans heading for the exitpublished at 16:50 BST 18 October

    Luton 0-2 Mansfield

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

As you look around there are more and more fans heading out the ground.

Not the away fans though that have travelled in their numbers today, they are here still in good voice still.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:49 BST 18 October

    Plymouth 1-2 AFC Wimbledon

Tegan Finn replaces Bradley Ibrahim for the hosts.

  19. CLOSE!published at 16:49 BST 18 October

    Bradford 2-2 Barnsley

    Bradford want to win this.

Max Power drives forward and unleashes a powerful effort which flies just over Murphy Cooper's crossbar.

  20. CLOSE!published at 16:48 BST 18 October

    Plymouth 1-2 AFC Wimbledon

Oh so close to wrapping this up.

Wimbledon have a swift counterattack and substitute Antwoine Hackford breaks clear only to fire his low shot just wide.
