  1. goal

GOAL CELTIC 2-0 Motherwellpublished at 19:44 British Summer Time 21 August

    Lucy Ashworth-Clifford

This one does find the back of the net though!

She floats it into the back of the net, bending it beyond Emily Mutch to double Celtic's advantage.

    Celtic 1-0 Motherwell

Lucy Ashworth-Clifford has another go, this one from just outside the Motherwell box but once again it's well wide.

    Celtic 1-0 Motherwell

Motherwell are growing into the game, some decent passages of play but they're just missing that cutting edge.

  9. Postpublished at 19:31 British Summer Time 21 August

    Celtic 1-0 Motherwell

Laura McCartney tries a shot from distance and she's not far away.

Kelsey Daugherty almost smacks her face off the post as she goes to cover her goal there.

  11. Postpublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 21 August

    Celtic 1-0 Motherwell

Almost a chance to make it two!

It's a class cross from Jenny Smith to find Lucy Ashworth-Clifford in the Motherwell box.

She tries to take it first time but sends her effort well wide.

  12. goal

GOAL CELTIC 1-0 Motherwellpublished at 19:23 British Summer Time 21 August

    Saoirse Noonan

That was a scramble if I've ever seen one!

    A disastrous start for Motherwell.

Celtic win a corner and it's whipped to the back post were the awaiting Caitlin Hayes sends a shot goalwards.

It's kept out, as is Chloe Craig's follow up effort but Saoirse Noonan is waiting practically on the goalline to eventually pop it into the back of the net.

  13. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:20 British Summer Time 21 August

    Celtic v Motherwell (19:20)

Celtic boss Elena Sadiku tells BBC Alba: "I want to see a more confident and brave team, a more attacking team.

"It's [squad rotation] a sign that I believe in my players, we have a strong squad and you can see that I mean it when I say it.

"The threat is going to be our mistakes. We are prepared for every scenario, the most focus we have is how we perform today. Hopefully I'll see a brave confident team who loves to attack."

Motherwell manager Paul Brownlie tells BBC Alba: "We're in a good place, another good win. There's a bit of momentum. We're under no illusions of the task of tonight's game.

"Every year we've tried to get better and this year the process continues. I'm delighted with the progress we've made.

"These are big nights, we want to be tested against the best."

    Celtic v Motherwell (19:20)

Turning our attention to the first game of the evening, which gets going in 10 minutes, and the previous results do not make pleasant reading for Motherwell supporters.

Celtic are unbeaten in every meeting between the sides going all the way back to 2019. The last time Motherwell took points off the hosts was January 2023, a 0-0 draw between the sides.

After two rounds of fixtures Motherwell and Celtic are joint on points, the latter are ahead in the table with a superior goal difference.
