I liked Tuchel's manner and answers in the conference, and I think the squad is a good balance from those available of attacking and creative players alongside those that can bring experience, stability and structure both on and off the pitch (which is why Henderson is in the squad, which I personally support - when he's on the pitch things are always in better shape and structure, regardless of what he does personally 'on the ball').

Very pleased to see Adam Wharton in the England squad.

He provides something different in the middle with his ability to keep the ball and find a pass through the lines.

We should have left-footed left-backs, Lewis-Skelly is excellent but still learning. He could learn a lot for Luke Shaw, who is looking good again and has the experience. If a right footer plays there, Livramento was excellent v Liverpool in Carabao Final. I don’t think Spence is at international level.

What do we think Thomas Tuchel's first choice defence is?

Reece James, John Stones, Marc Guehi and Myles Lewis-Skelly?

Well, what do we all make of that?

Plenty from Thomas Tuchel there, who says Jack Grealish and Trent Alexander-Arnold need more rhythm to be called-up.

So glad to see Spence in there. He's been awesome, but also has that confidence that's great to see. No one bothers him.

  9. 'Spence has had a strong start to season'published at 14:29 British Summer Time

    England

England manager Thomas Tuchel on Djed Spence's first England call-up: "Djed comes to camp as a left-back together with Myles and fights for his position there. It's a first call-up. I think it's very well deserved. He had a very strong end to the season, won a major trophy and a very strong start to the season with Tottenham. He played very impressively in the European Super Cup.

"He is a very aggressive player who loves to have on on one duels, is not shy to be in one-on-one duels with the most talented, and the fastest players who play on the right wing out there, so strong start to the season straight away and he's a big part of Tottenham's success at the moment and everyone told us he is very focused at the moment. Very focused on training, very keen to get better. We can see this, and that's why we called him up."

  10. Spence to compete at left-backpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time

  11. 'Mainoo lacks minutes right now'published at 14:25 British Summer Time

    England

England manager Thomas Tuchel on Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo: "He deserved to start. He was impressive. Was just impressive how he played, how he played in the club is maybe the most important and then it was almost logical step that he played for the country and he played fearless. He played with excitement that the youth sometimes brings and now he experienced the other side of it. Sometimes you can feel the pressure and changes in the club are not in your favour and he's lacking the minutes.

"I don't think he lacks anything else. He has the experience, the power, the quality, the talent to be on our list. He is on our list of players but at the moment, on his position six, eight, 10 position we have players who are in full rhythm and who play key parts in their clubs, and this is the next step for him."

I fully understood and understand that it's my responsibility that I create these headlines. I am sorry for the upset and am sorry for the upset for the headlines I created.

"I am experienced enough and should've known better. I should've done better. I thought I have a little more credit with you guys that I do all this in my second language. I did all this the morning after a loss with not a lot of sleep. I did it in a live interview and I used the wrong word. Again, it's my responsibility. I used the wrong word, I didn't want to use this word, I used it, I created the upset, it's my responsibility."

On if he contacted Bellingham after the comments: "Of course, I made contact straight away with him. Jude focuses now on his process in rehabilitation, and we focus on Andorra and Serbia."
