    Portugal 0-0 Denmark (0-1 agg)

I would currently describe this game as a bit bitty.

Portugal are controlling the majority of the play with Denmark happy to break when they can but nothing is coming off for either side right now.

    France 0-0 Croatia (0-2 agg)

A good spell of possession for Croatia at the moment after withstanding a number of France attacks.

If Croatia get a goal then you'd imagine that's game over for the hosts.

    Germany 0-0 Italy (2-1 agg)

Italy can barely get the ball as a sequence of around 15 passes ends with Leroy Sane's low drive being held by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

    Spain 1-0 Netherlands (3-2 agg)

Dani Olmo fires a strong pass towards Barcelona team-mate Lamine Yamal and of course, he controls it with ease. He then looks to cut in and whip one toward the bottom corner with his left foot but it's well blocked.

    France 0-0 Croatia (0-2 agg)

Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe link up again, the latter volleying the former's cross just wide.

Is it going to be one of those nights for France? They are creating lots but the finishing isn't there yet.

Paul: Portugal are being held back by constant pandering to Ronaldo. They need to move him on and out of the team for god sake. He’s stifling them as a team. It isn’t just because he’s missed a penalty tonight either. He was rotten at the last Euros.

  9. Postpublished at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Portugal 0-0 Denmark (0-1 agg)

It's Denmark's time to come forward as Rasmus Hojlund picks the ball up on the edge of the box, manages to turn quickly and fires off a shot but Diogo Costa is down well to it.

  10. Postpublished at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Spain 1-0 Netherlands (3-2 agg)

Cody Gakpo cuts inside on the left to find Justin Kluivert but his effort is high over Unai Simon's goal. Decent strike.

    France 0-0 Croatia (0-2 agg)

Clever ball into the box by Ousmane Dembele. Kylian Mbappe breaks clear of the defence but just can't get to it before Dominik Livakovic.

Memphis Depay has his arms in the air as he screams at the referee wanting a penalty. Robin Le Normand was physical in winning the ball back but it was all within the rules.

This isn't looking great for Italy because it has just been all Germany so far.

  14. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    France 0-0 Croatia (0-2 agg)

Michael Olise goes down twice inside the box under attention from Croatia players. Michael Oliver is not interested in either falls, much to the anger of the home fans.

The Netherlands are trying to work an opening down their left with Cody Gakpo seeing a lot more of the ball now.

    Portugal 0-0 Denmark (0-1 agg)

Electric feet from Rafael Leao wide on the left but the play is pulled back for a Denmark free-kick after Bernardo Silva was a little too physical off the ball.

  17. Postpublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Germany 0-0 Italy (2-1 agg)

A Germany free-kick causes a bit of a scramble inside the box with Gianluigi Donnarumma making a bit of a mess of his attempt to punch away, but there's relief for Italy as they are eventually awarded a free-kick for a foul.

  18. Postpublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Portugal 0-0 Denmark (0-1 agg)

That penalty miss isn't stopping Portugal in their pursuit of a leveller in this tie as Cristiano Ronaldo gets his head on a deep cross but Kasper Schmeichel is there once again.

A Mexican wave is currently flying around the Mestalla right now. It's certainly not been a boring opening!

It is surely only a matter of time before France take the lead as Aurélien Tchouaméni glances a header from a corner just wide.
