UEFA Champions League
All competitions
This will be the first ever meeting between RB Leipzig and Crvena Zvedza, and Leipzig's first match against Serbian opposition.
Crvena Zvedza have lost both of their UEFA Champions League games against German opponents, going down 3-0 away and 6-0 at home to Bayern Munich in 2019-20.
RB Leipzig have lost two of their last three games in the UEFA Champions League (W1), although both of those defeats have been against Manchester City. Overall, Marco Rose has lost just three of his nine games in charge of the club in the competition (W5 D1), losing only to Man City (x2) and Real Madrid (x1).
Crvena Zvezda are looking for their first UEFA Champions League win since October 2019 (3-1 v Olympiakos), having lost five and drawn one of their last six games in the competition.
Both teams have scored in each of RB Leipzig’s last eight home matches in the UEFA Champions League (14 for, 16 against), at an average of 3.8 goals per game. The German side haven’t kept a clean sheet at home in the competition since October 2020 (2-0 v Istanbul Basaksehir), going 11 games without one since then.
Crvena Zvedza drew 2-2 with Young Boys last time out in the UEFA Champions League, in a game that lasted 103 minutes and 04 seconds. Indeed, it was both the longest match played across the first two matchdays this season, as well as the game with the lowest percentage of ball-in-play time (44%).
Since the start of last season, only Manchester City (4) have scored more goals from direct attacks than RB Leipzig (3) in the UEFA Champions League.
Emil Forsberg has been directly involved in 14 goals for RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League (10 goals, four assists), just one behind the record for combined goals and assists for the club in the competition (15 - Christopher Nkunku).
Osman Bukari has been directly involved in three goals for Crvena Zvedza in the UEFA Champions League this season (two goals, one assist). Not since the 1991-92 season has a player scored more than twice for the club in a single European Cup/UEFA Champions League campaign (three different players: Darko Pancev 6, Sinisa Mihajlovic 4 and Milorad Ratkovic 3).
No RB Leipzig player has created more chances (4) or completed more take-ons (6) than Xavi Simons in the UEFA Champions League this season. Indeed, he is the youngest player to have completed more than five take-ons in the tournament so far (20y 187d on the day of this game).
