    England

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher says he is only "focusing on England" at Euro 2024 amid reports he could leave his boyhood club this summer.

Gallagher has been linked with Aston Villa or Tottenham, and any sale would go down as 'pure profit', meaning it would help Chelsea to navigate the Premier League's strict profit and sustainability rules.

The 24-year-old Gallagher took over as Chelsea captain from the injured Reece James for the majority of last season and impressed to earn a spot at his second major tournament with England.

"I'm a Chelsea player right now and I'm just thinking about England and the tournament," said Gallagher, who went to the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

"It's not difficult. I'm away with England and I couldn't be happier with the position I'm in.

"I've just been focusing on England. This is the most important thing right now for me and the country. I'm hoping I can help the team more on the pitch in this tournament."

  15. Everton want £80m for Branthwaite from Man Utdpublished at 07:06 British Summer Time 14 June

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport chief football reporter

Everton will look for a fee of at least £80m from Manchester United for young defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

It is understood United have already agreed personal terms with the player's representatives.

They intend to speak to Everton about Branthwaite once the transfer window opens on Friday.

The response is likely to be frosty.

BBC Sport has been told Everton do not want to sell the 21-year-old, who many believe was unlucky to miss out on selection for England's European Championship squad.

The club believe it is just a matter of time before Branthwaite becomes an England regular and rate him in the same bracket as Harry Maguire and Josko Gvardiol.

Maguire cost United £80m when he joined from Leicester in 2019. Gvardiol cost Manchester City 90m euros - at the time equating to £77m - when he moved from RB Leipzig last summer.
