Joel Randall scored twice as Peterborough ran riot in returning to winning ways in League One with a 5-1 thrashing of Blackpool.

The Posh’s first victory in three games lifted them three places to 12th in the table, while the poor Seasiders slid to their third straight defeat.

Peterborough led after eight minutes when Kwame Poku’s low ball into the area was neatly flicked on by Randall for Malik Mothersille, who placed his first-time effort into the top corner.

The home side’s lead was doubled in the 17th minute when Ricky-Jade Jones’ pull-back found Mothersille and he laid it off for Randall to find the net via a deflection.

Blackpool looked to be back in the game when Jake Beesley’s pass gave Kyle Joseph a tap-in, but the hosts restored their two-goal lead within a minute when Poku lashed home.

Peterborough continued to pull clear in the second half as Poku’s ball across goal was turned in by Jones before Randall’s lovely dinked finish wrapped up the points.

The Tangerines were once again led by assistant Steve Agnew, with boss Steve Bruce continuing to support his family following the death of his four-month old grandson Madison last week.
