Ethan Nwaneri is again starting in a central position as he continues his development as an Arsenal first team player.

Nwaneri broke into the starting XI when Bukayo Saka was injured and filled in on the right wing.

He excelled there scoring nine goals in 37 appearances in his first full season involved with the senior team.

The Gunners have now signed Noni Madueke who can play on both wings so Nwaneri, is now starting to move into what is his more natural position.

The challenge for Nwaneri will be how does he get minutes and excel in an area of the pitch where Arsenal are blessed with options and depth.

Newcastle said striker Alexander Isak was left out of their squad because of a minor thigh injury.

But it quickly emerged that the Swede, 25, is looking at his options elsewhere - including Liverpool.

It seems inevitable that if he leaves for another Premier League team it will be for a record fee.

Boss Eddie Howe said: "Of course there are things going on behind the scenes.

"He will be aware he is in the news every day and I'm sure that is not easy for anyone in that situation. Conversations that happen with Alex and the club, or Alex and myself, will stay private for obvious reasons.

"We do share a good relationship. He has been magnificent for us since he joined. He's very popular in the dressing room.

"We would love him to continue his journey at Newcastle. Although, whatever happens has to be right for Newcastle."

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he is "absolutely delighted" to welcome new signing Viktor Gyokeres to the club.

The 27-year-old Swede has joined for a fee of up to £64m after scoring 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting.

"We are absolutely delighted to welcome Viktor Gyokeres to the club," Arteta said. "The consistency he has shown in his performances and availability have been outstanding and his goal contributions speak for themselves.

"Viktor has so many qualities. He is a quick and powerful presence up front, with incredible goalscoring numbers at club and international levels.

"He brings a clinical edge with a high conversion rate of chances into goals, with his intelligent movement in the box making him a constant threat.

"We are excited about what Viktor brings to our squad and are looking forward to working with him."
