Kane Drummond's goal was his first for Chesterfield

Chesterfield ran out winners over a struggling Tranmere side at the SMH Group Stadium.

First-half goals from Ryan Colclough and Armando Dobra plus a late effort from substitute Kane Drummond gave the Spireites a deserved victory.

Tranmere got off to a strong start with Connor Jennings seeing his stooping header palmed wide by Max Thompson.

The Spireites took a deserved lead in he 29th minute as Colclough slotted into the bottom corner after being played into space by Liam Mandeville.

Dobra continued to cause havoc as the half wore on, this time squaring to Mandeville who hit a post.

In the 44th minute Dobra doubled the home side's lead. It was a simple finish as he tapped into an empty net following a rapid counter-attack.

The visitors' first clear-cut opportunity fell to Declan Drysdale, with the defender's shot being cleared off the line by Ryheem Sheckleford.

Drummond rounded off a perfect afternoon for the hosts with a calm finish in the 86th minute after being found with just the keeper to beat.
