Martinez scores first-half hat-trick against Palace

West Ham forward Shekiera Martinez, speaking to BBC Sport on how much she enjoyed scoring four today: "A lot. I love scoring goals for this club and I'm always happy to help my team."

On if she knew she'd score this much when she joined: "I'm a little bit surprised and I just take it as it is and I'm really happy.

"I think it's easy to settle in here because they're all really kind, really open and I feel really safe here."

On if she can win the golden boot: "I will try to keep scoring and we'll see what will be."

  18. 'The attack was outstanding'published at 16:00 British Summer Time 27 April

    Crystal Palace 1-7 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham manager Rehanne Skinner speaking to BBC Sport: "I'm delighted, we scored seven goals, just the way the team was in the attack was outstanding. We made it difficult for Palace to get opportunities and we played with a high line, how the backline managed that was exceptional. Shekiera [Martinez] has got four goals out of the game and we haven't had anyone at West Ham score four goals in a game before. It's a top job. The team has done really well today."

On wishing she had Martinez all season: "There's always timing and the way everything's come together with all the players over the course of the season is really positive, finishing in a great position and we have these two games to focus on now and we want to keep playing like that. The players have done what I said, to be consistent and play the way we want to play which we did today so I am delighted."

On the turnaround this season: "When all of our players came in September, quite a few players were late in the window. We went into five really tough games against last season's top four. That was a real challenge. As time has gone on, our performances have improved game on game. I am really proud of the players."

On the battle with Liverpool for fifth place: "We're just looking to keep improving on what we're doing. We still have two games left. The next game is the one that counts. We just have to focus on what we can control and we want to do well in these next two games and that shows we have taken positive steps."
