Newcastle boss Eddie Howe on Sven Botman and Malick Thiaw: "Just looking individually at the players, Sven [Botman] has been a magnificent player for us.

"You go back a couple of seasons ago he was a part of the back four that was really resilient and solid. He was in a back four that was playing consistently at that time and everyone knows his qualities. The injury came at a bad time for him and whenever you have a long term injury there is a period where you go through and have to find your best form and we are close to seeing him back to his best.

"Malick [Thiaw] is in a different situation but he has really impressed us."

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe on Lewis Miley criticism: "I'd be amazed if that was the case [that he was being criticised]. I think that would be totally unjustified.

"For me, Lewis [Miley] is an outstanding player that we need to support and protect and sometimes when you look at him you forget how young he is. All players need help and guidance and of course we will do everything we can to support him."

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca on goalkeepers: "Robert [Sanchez] for a long period was very good for us. The last part of last season and the beginning of this season he was fantastic.

"He made a mistake against Manchester United and recognised that, I said many times that when a keeper makes a mistake or when a midfielder makes a mistake, it is exactly the same.

"We are happy with Robert, we are happy with Filip [Jorgensen] and there is not any problem with Robert."

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe on William Osula: "The thing with Will [Osula] and the situation with him and his career, we felt and he felt that he needed to play regularly after development behind the scenes.

"He did a lot of work and a lot of individual work on all areas of the game and I think there was a need for him to play. Of course that move [to Eintracht Frankfurt] did not happen and fortunately for us and for Will he is getting opportunities to step on to the pitch and I was really pleased with him on Wednesday."

"In the three games we have played, twice we only scored one goal and once we scored two but they scored two as well.

"If I am informed correctly, if a player has an injury for longer than two months then you are able to replace him - now we have to see if it's true or not but other people are looking into that."

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on Rio Ngumoha signing his first professional deal: "The good thing is, if you're a youngster playing at Liverpool, there are players that you are playing with that are still better than you are and I think that helps you stay grounded and know there are still steps to make.

"If you are playing for a club at a lower level and you are as good as Rio, maybe you belong to the best players in the team and that can lead to maybe a situation where he isn't as grounded as he should be but here that is not a problem at all.

"He is a player that constantly wants to improve but if you train and play with players like Cody Gakpo, Mo Salah and Federico Chiesa - I think he feels there is still a step to make. If he is at their level then it's about being as consistent as these players are and that is the most difficult thing.

"To become really good is something a lot of players maybe can do but be consistently really good is why the top players stand out."

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on Crystal Palace and the biggest threat they have: "They have an enormous discipline defensively. Ten outfield players plus a goalkeeper that work so hard to stop the other team scoring.

"We saw is also in the Community Shield, even in the moments we were up - they could still be so disciplined and calm. We saw this against Southampton too and how hard it is to play through them.

"They have individual quality and individual players who are a big threat. Mateta is one of them, Sarr who wasn't available last week was really good against us in the Community Shield and good centre-backs and good wing-backs.
