Jordan Cropper's first goal in almost five years set Boston on their way to ending a month-long winless run with victory at home to Braintree in the National League.
The Pilgrims had lost three and drawn two of their previous five matches but a tight game against their fellow strugglers was settled in the 58th minute.
Summer signing Cropper, who last scored for Chesterfield in November 2020, blasted home to move Boston out of the bottom four.
Defender Cropper had also created the best chance of the first half, crossing for Kieran Donnelly, only for the ball to fly just wide.
Dylan Hill scored Boston's second in the third minute of added time.
