Aye, it’s a right party atmosphere at Tannadice tonight.

Fans are in fine voice and why not? They’ve earned this after a slightly gruelling campaign at times.

That’s all been forgotten. Currently belting out ‘love is in the air’…

  2. 'I'll be here' - Ferguson expects to stay at Invernesspublished at 19:43 British Summer Time 3 May 2024

Back up to Inverness, and regardless of how their season ends, Duncan Ferguson says he'll still be the gaffer next season.

Ferguson expects to see out the three-year contract he signed with the in September.

A reminder that Caley Thistle are ninth as they approach their final league fixture against Morton and hope to better Queen's Park's result against Airdrie to avoid the play-offs.

A draw could be enough for if Queen’s lose as Inverness have a better goal difference.

"I’ll be here," Ferguson said of next term. "As far as I know - that’ll be down to other people to decide that. But as far as I’m concerned I’ve got a three-year contract - I’ll be here for three years.

"We are a big club. We have a lot of great fans, great people running the club. We’ve got to do everything we possibly can to stay in the division and hopefully that will happen on Friday night."

  3. Can Thistle exorcise play-off heartache?published at 19:39 British Summer Time 3 May 2024

    Amy Canavan
    BBC Scotland

I wouldn't blame a Thistle fan for still not being ready to face the play-offs after that heartbreak last season.

But fair play for Kris Doolan and his players for once again securing another top-four spot.

Amy Canavan's had a good look at how well placed Doolan's side are this time around - and you can read all about it here.

  4. Thistle not here to 'make up numbers' - Doolanpublished at 19:35 British Summer Time 3 May 2024

Partick Thistle manager Kris Doolan tells BBC Scotland: "This time last year, when we came into the play-offs, we had to go right the way through with the same group of players, including the last game of the season.

"Because we've put ourselves in this position, we can rest some. But we still want to perform tonight, we're not here to make up the numbers.

"[Dundee United] won the league for a reason, you have to take your hat off to that. They've gone down and straight back up.

"Tonight they'll get to party, and for the rest of the weekend I'm sure."

  5. Goodwin urges players to 'enjoy moment'published at 19:32 British Summer Time 3 May 2024

Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin tells BBC Scotland: "We're in a very good position, it's not very often you get to enjoy moments like this.

"Winning trophies isn't an easy thing in football and the players have the opportunity to go and express themselves.

"We want to finish the season on a high. It's near enough a full house, the way we played last week wasn't acceptable. We don't want to finish on a performance like that.

"Louis Moult would like to get the golden boot, I think he needs three to level with Brian Graham. He'll be taking every free-kick, corner and penalty."

Inverness currently occupy the relegation play-off spot

The meatiness of tonight's finale is at the foot of the table.

Yes, Arbroath are already down - but there's a relegation play-off place to be finalised.

It'll either be Callum Davidson's Queen's Park or Duncan Ferguson's Inverness who occupy it by bedtime, but the former have the upper-hand.

Davidson's side are safe as it stands, a point and a place above Big Dunc's men.

Queen's just have to match Inverness' result to stay there. The Glasgow side welcome Airdrie to Hampden, while Morton go to the Highlands.

  8. Can Airdrie really catch Thistle?published at 19:22 British Summer Time 3 May 2024

Raith Rovers gave it a right good go for the majority of this season but ultimately fell short.

A second-placed finish for Rovers is fine going, though, and crucially it means they get a much-needed rest by bypassing the play-off quarter-final.

It will be Partick Thistle and Airdrieonians who meet in that quarter.

As it stands, Thistle will have the advantage of playing at home in the second leg by finishing third, but Airdrie could catch them.

All it would take is Airdrie beating Queen's Park, Thistle losing to United, plus an 11-goal swing. Aye, a bit of a stretch.

  11. What's there to play for?published at 19:14 British Summer Time 3 May 2024

As we know, Dundee United have the title wrapped up and Arbroath are already relegated.

Raith Rovers will take second and the final two play-off places below them will be claimed by Partick Thistle and Airdrieonians, although there could be some (unlikely) movement between those two.

It's far more likely there's a bit of shuffling in the three-team mid-table cluster of Morton, Dunfermline and Ayr.

But make no mistake, the big games tonight involve Queen's Park and Inverness, who are both fighting to avoid a place in the relegation play-off.

More on all of that shortly...

Here's how the table's looking heading into the final matchday.

Looking at mid-table, and eighth and ninth place in particular, there could be a fair bit of movement.
