Michael Mellon came close to scoring for Oldham but saw his effort come back off the post
Oldham extended their winless run in League Two to three games following a goalless draw with Barrow at Boundary Park.
In a game of few chances, Will Sutton came close to winning it late on for the Latics, who have registered just one league win at home this season.
The late kick-off was slow to get going, with no clear-cut chances for either side in a first half that was so uneventful it did not require any added time.
Luke Hannant arguably had the best opportunity for the Latics when Wyll Stanway left his goal exposed to deal with a Reagan Ogle cross but the winger was unable to capitalise on an empty net with his effort from the edge of the box.
There was a lively start to the second half, with Oldham's Michael Mellon striking the base of a post two minutes after the restart and Joe Quigley's rebound being blocked on the line.
At the other end, Rekeem Harper put a free header from a corner over the bar for Barrow.
Sutton was then unlucky not to snatch victory for the hosts with a stoppage-time header which was saved by Stanway.
