    He says that this is a very different situation for him, and that he is happy working on an 18-month deal for now: "It is a good timeframe for us, it helps us to focus. It is very streamlined, and helps us work on the best outcome for the 2026 World Cup."

    Thomas Tuchel admits he was unsure about whether international football would be right for him, before speaking to the FA about the job.

    But he says he found he agreed with the FA about many things concerning the role, and that he always wanted to return to English football after leaving Chelsea in September 2022.

    On whether he can end 60 years of hurt since England won a major men's trophy, he says "there are a few trophies missing" from the FA cabinet and he will aim to rectify this.
