Alex Reid and Reiss McNally were on target as Hartlepool maintained their unbeaten start in the National League with a 2-0 win at Altrincham.

Reid opened the scoring for the visitors after five minutes when he latched onto Jamie Miley's fine pass before blasting past Altrincham goalkeeper Luke Hutchinson.

Hartlepool doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time, McNally heading home Matty Daly's corner.

The visitors saw out the game – recording their third clean sheet in as many fixtures – to move up to second in the table and condemn Altrincham to back-to-back defeats.
