Oldham extended their National League unbeaten run to eight games with victory at struggling Braintree.
On-loan Wigan striker Josh Stones headed in Mark Kitching's cross, for his fourth goal in three games, to give the Latics a 15th-minute lead.
Braintree, in the bottom four and without a win in more than a month, almost levelled through Chay Cooper, but Oldham goalkeeper Mathew Hudson saved well.
James Norwood then rounded Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Covolan five minutes after the restart to double Oldham's lead and secure the three points.
