Neither side could break the deadlock at Villa Park

The wait goes on for both Aston Villa and Leicester as they chase a first win of the season in the Women's Super League, following a cagey draw at Villa Park.

Leicester keeper Janina Leitzig pulled off a brilliant save to deny Anna Patten from close range deep into second-half injury time.

Villa substitute Adriana Leon also had a strike tipped over by Leitzig late on.

Sophie Howard went closest for Leicester with an angled shot that trickled wide in the second half.

Before kick-off, Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Nobbs was presented with a framed jersey as she broke the WSL appearance record last week.

A good point for everyone - Miquel

Neither manager will come away from Villa Park truly enthused by their side's performance, although Leicester manager Amandine Miquel said her side will "take a draw".

"It looks like a good point for everyone," she told BBC Radio Leicester.

"We were really unhappy with the performance against Crystal Palace, we were far too wide. I don't know why we forgot to be close together but that's come back now.

"Today the draw is a good draw if you analyse everything. Hopefully next week we stay as solid defensively and can be a bit more dangerous offensively, which was not the case today."

The home team probably edged proceedings but only truly looked dangerous after striker Leon came on in the 61st minute.

She had a few shots saved, although Villa's best chance fell to a defender. What might have been had it been Leon shooting from a few yards out and not Patten in the final minutes?

Villa used to be Leicester's bogey team, losing their first five WSL fixtures against their Midlands rivals. Now, though, the Foxes have held Villa to draws in back-to-back games.
