Spain v England (Sun, 20:00 BST)

After studying training for the last few weeks, we assume you are all now fully aware of what a "rondo" is, or "piggy in the middle" as our colleague Katie Stafford likes to describe it.

Here are a couple of pics of England players chasing the ball down - look at the steely determination in the eyes of Kieran Trippier and Trent Alexander-Arnold. No-one likes to be in the middle for too long...

Some looking happier than others it has to be said.

This is a team that perhaps is not at the level of 2012 but they are building something similar to that. Maybe when we talk in four years’ time, we will say they have matched them. You have Yamal, somebody who can make the difference and we didn’t have that kind of player [in 2012].

For instance against France, when everything is stacking against us, he goes and scores that goal that he scored, at 16!

We’re expecting our first child today (Saturday). But with only small signs of movement thus far I’m wondering if our daughter-to-be might be waiting to give me a chance to watch the final before making her appearance! I’ll be on standby all game of course if that does happen…:)

Former England striker Alan Shearer: "They've got everything you need to be successful and that's the reason they've won every single game at this tournament."

Chris Sutton: "It is hard to see anybody touching them, they seem to be on a different level to anybody else in this tournament."

Micah Richards: "The worries I had about this Spanish team, they answered them against France - how they can adapt to situations and when you have pace on the wings you always have a chance. They look really balanced and I think they are favourites."

One England superfan who will be there in Berlin this weekend is 56-year-old Ian Odgers from Dereham, Norfolk. He marks his away trips with a tattoo of every passport stamp he gets when England play overseas.

Mr Odgers' passion for England was ignited when he attended his first game at the age of 12 - and he made it his life's ambition to follow the side.

He thinks he's travelled to more than 20 countries as a supporter at about 60 matches overseas - and started documenting his football trips with a series of tattoos about five years ago.

There's that incredible stat that since the turn of the century Spanish teams, [club and international] have played in 22 finals against teams from other countries and won all of them, which is genuinely astonishing.

It seems that whenever Spanish football culture, however that manifests, whenever it comes up against something else it's superior.

That's too big a sample size to be a coincidence.

England celebrate at the final whistle

Gareth Southgate says England felt "perhaps less satisfaction" at reaching the Euro 2024 final compared to their Euro 2020 experience.

England finished runners-up at the delayed Euros in 2021, losing 3-2 to Italy in a penalty shootout at Wembley following a 1-1 draw.

That was the men's first final appearance since the 1966 World Cup, and now another awaits them on Sunday when Spain will provide the opposition.

"There's a different feel [than 2021]. We're now in a different moment as a team, two tournaments on and a lot more big match experience," Southgate told BBC Sport.

"I guess there was less of a celebration, perhaps less satisfaction at reaching a final.

"I wouldn't say it becomes run of the mill but it's a little bit more normal for us. That statement in itself is probably a bit ridiculous given our history."

So much has been said over the past few years about the culture within the England camp that has been instilled by coach Gareth Southgate.

It dates back to Southgate's time as England Under-21 coach, when new Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth was in a similar role for the Football Association.

Wigan full-back Steven Sessegnon says the cultural shift was evident when he was part of the England Under-17 side containing Phil Foden, Marc Guehi and Conor Gallagher that won the World Cup in 2017.

"I started coming into the England set-up when I was about 15," he told BBC Sport.

"I remember they would drive the words ‘England DNA' into every training session, every camp, every meeting. You would constantly hear it and see it on walls. England DNA.

"Through that you had the Under-20s who won their World Cup in Asia, my brother (Ryan) won the Euros, and we got to the Euros final and through that won the World Cup.

"I don’t know if that was the era or a bit before I started in the set-up but they were massive on the England DNA and a certain style of play.

"From what I hear, that was a big change and we only benefitted from it because it made academies change the way they played, so the standard in academies has got much better."
