A win today for either side today would be significant as it could lift Bradford into the top six, or Carlisle off the bottom of the League Two table if results elsewhere also go their way.

The Bantams are unbeaten in their last four matches whereas the Cumbrians have won just one in their last six.

After winning the reverse fixture 2-1, Bradford will be looking to complete a league double over Carlisle for the first time since the 1985-86 season in the second tier.

The Cumbrians have lost just two of their last eight league games against Bradford, though have scored just two goals in total across their last four meetings.

Gillingham have failed to win any of their last three league games against Doncaster Rovers

Doncaster Rovers will be looking to hold on to and build on their spot in League Two's top seven as they travel away to a Gillingham side who have lost their past three league games.

The Gills have also failed to win their any of their last three games against Doncaster though their last victory against the Yorkshire club did come on home soil in April 2023.

Across their Football League history, the Rovers have won just three of their 36 away league games against Gillingham, keeping just four clean sheets during that time.

A win for Doncaster could lift them as high as third and level on points with second placed Crewe if they fail to win this afternoon.

  10. New signings all start for the Posh and Orientpublished at 12:25 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson makes five changes from that midweek EFL Trophy win against Walsall, as new loan signings Tayo Edun and Sam Hughes are drafted straight into the defence.

Carl Johnston and Cian Hayes also join the starting lineup, and it’s a first league start for centre-forward Gustav Lindgren, who impressed with his double against the Saddlers. Ferguson will be hoping he can fill the void of injured topscorer Kwame Poku.

For the Leyton Orient, manager Richie Wellens makes three changes to the side which beat Derby in the FA Cup third round.

Tom James and Zech Obiero are in, and it’s a full league debut winger Dilan Markanday, who this week signed on loan from Blackburn Rovers.

Blackpool boss Steve Bruce makes two changes to the side which drew their last league game, 1-1 at Wycombe.

New signing Tom Bloxham comes straight into the side after joining in midweek and CJ Hamilton is back.

Sonny Carey drops down to the bench BUT there is no place for leading scorer Kyle Joseph with a move to a Championship club believed to be in the offing.

New loan signing Sammy Silvera from Middlesbrough is among the substitutes.

Huddersfield have been strengthening up front in the window and Joe Taylor and Dion Charles are both given starting berths for their debuts with two changes from the team which won 1-0 at Wycombe.

Callum Marshall is on the bench but Bojan Radulovic misses out completely.

Peterborough v Leyton Orient (12:30 GMT)

Five league wins on the bounce, not including that dramatic FA Cup penalty shootout win against Derby, will give Leyton Orient all the confidence they need heading up the M11 to 19th-placed Peterborough this lunchtime.

On the other hand, the Posh have lost four of their last five games in League One, and hold the sad record of conceding the most goals so far this season (46).

To fix that, manager Darren Ferguson has jumped into the transfer market, and on Thursday made the loan signings of defenders Tayo Edun and Sam Hughes.

Orient have also done business by bringing in Blackburn winger Dilan Markanday, who's scored seven goals in all competitions for League Two Chesterfield.

But who's to say the London side won’t be distracted by that fast approaching FA Cup tie against the Premier League champions, Manchester City?

  13. Terriers add bite to their attackpublished at 12:21 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

Blackpool v Huddersfield Town (12:30 GMT)

Huddersfield boss Michael DuffImage source, Rex Features

Are Huddersfield 'winning' the January transfer window in League One?

Currently 15 games unbeaten, the Terriers have gone big already with the signings of forwards Dion Charles and Joe Taylor along with that of Dutch left-back Ruben Roosken.

The work on the strike force has been the one area needed at Huddersfield as they are the lowest scorers of the sides currently occupying the top six places.

A win at promotion rivals Wycombe earlier this month has only further strengthened their grip on a play-off place and victory at Blackpool this lunchtime would put some serious heat on the three sides ahead of them.

The last time Michael Duff's side tasted defeat in the league was at Birmingham at the start of October, and that was the final reverse of a four match losing streak which had some questioning the future of man only appointed in May.

An FA Cup first round defeat by Tamworth in November failed to derail their league form and with games to come against Birmingham and Bolton to finish the month this could be a pivotal couple weeks for Huddersfield.

  14. Blackpool seek some home comfortpublished at 12:20 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January

After such a great start to life under Steve Bruce it is a bit surprising to find Blackpool now closer to the League One relegation zone than they are to the play-offs.

The Tangerines won their first four league games under Bruce but they now find themselves in the midst of a five-game run without a victory albeit they have drawn four of those.

Reinforcements arrived this week with midfielder Tom Bloxham joining from Shrewsbury for an undisclosed fee and Middlesbrough winger Sammy Silvera signing on loan for the rest of the season.

Bloomfield Road has not been Blackpool's happy place this season with only Burton having fewer than their two home wins in League One and only the Brewers and Crawley accruing fewer than their 12 points.

    Bottom ten in League One

Thursday's win over Wrexham was huge on two counts for Shrewsbury as it gave them bragging rights over their cross-border rivals while also putting them in sight of safety.

Bristol Rovers and Peterborough are in their sights with Rovers hosting Barnsley today and the Posh facing Leyton Orient.

Burton's trip to fellow strugglers Crawley feels a bit like a last chance to get their survival bid up and running.

    Top ten in League One

Wrexham's slip-up at Shrewsbury on Thursday night has opened the door for Birmingham, Wycombe and Huddersfield to take advantage.

Blues will stay top with a win over Exeter but anything less could see managerless Wycombe take over at the summit by beating Mansfield.

Huddersfield have a prime chance to increase the heat on the top three if they can get three points at Blackpool this lunchtime.

There is also a huge game between two play-off hopefuls with Reading hosting Stockport.

Right, the weather is behaving itself and we've got no FA Cup to distract us as we get back to the hard graft of gathering league points.

The top four in League One look like they are pulling away and the bottom four have a lot of work to do if they are to survive.

In League Two Walsall could probably declare now and still go up but there is at least a six-horse race for the other two automatic spots.

The scrap at the bottom could involve up to eight teams with Carlisle going big already in the transfer window and Harrogate grabbing a vital win over Cheltenham last night.

It's going to be a busy one so let's crack on...
