Dan Nlundulu earned Cambridge their fifth draw of the season

Dan Nlundulu struck from the penalty spot late on as League One strugglers Cambridge United belied their status as relegation candidates at promotion hopefuls Wrexham.

The hosts led briefly through Elias Kachunga, a goal cancelled out by James McLean.

Steven Fletcher put the hosts ahead the Stok Racecourse in the 65th minute.

But drama followed as Wrexham conceded a penalty and Nlundulu made no mistake as the 90th minute loomed.

Wrexham remain third in the title race while Cambridge stay 22nd.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson:

"Obviously disappointed with the goal we conceded, the first one… it looked too easy. And then I thought we responded well, great goal, brilliant finish from Jim (James McLean).

"And second half, fantastic bit of closing down from Olly Rathbone - I thought he was outstanding all game - we really did get ahead. Once we've gone ahead, I think we did enough to go and kill the game off.

"I think we've got to look at that, because we're on such a good run and done so well at home, it was almost like it's going to just take care of itself.

"We got punished, and it wasn't as if Mark's had saves to make or we're hanging in there at all. But when you don't go and kill the game off, that one moment can prove costly."
