South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers and Barnsley meet at the Eco-Power Stadium as they both seek an end to their dire winless runs.

Port Vale will look to close the gap to those outside the bottom four but will face a tough challenge against a Bolton Wanderers side chasing a place in the top six.

Exeter City will want to add some distance away from the relegation line and leapfrog visitors Wigan Athletic on the table.

Peterborough United will be hoping to lift out of the basement but will need to pull of a mighty upset against an AFC Wimbledon eyeing up the automatic promotion spots.

Rotherham United's five-match undefeated streak will come under threat when Lincoln City come to town in hopes of taking the top spot.

  2. Who will be the happiest Hatters?published at 14:55 GMT

    Stockport v Luton (15:00 GMT)

The hat-making industries of these respective towns are very much part of their histories these days.

But while Stockport have been showing they have a head for heights, Luton and their fans have been struggling to keep their hats on more recently.

The home side have enjoyed three promotions in the past six years and there were a few raised eyebrows when they failed to make that four last season when losing out to Leyton Orient in the play-off semi-finals.

Cue some more sensible summer recruitment and here they are again, only this time they're top and looking to avoid the bunfight of the play-offs.

Dave Challinor's side have won their past three games without conceding a goal as well which is hardly encouraging for Luton.

Jack Wilshere is probably still typing in the ground address to his satnav as he looks to get his feet well and truly under the table at Kenilworth Road but they have also won their past three games, albeit in three different competitions.

Successive relegations make it a big job for the rookie boss but a win at Edgeley Park might have a few fans doffing their caps to him at full time.

  3. Bantams and Burton brewing-up a draw?published at 14:51 GMT

    Bradford v Burton (15:00 GMT)

Those of us old enough to remember them might be tempted to put this one down as a potential draw on the pools coupon - a nice three points to go towards the big cash prize.

Bradford have drawn four league games in a row, in fact no-one has been involved in more stalemates in League One so far this season.

It's not for the want of trying either - the second-placed Bantams are the division's top scorers with 23 goals but they've also shipped 16 at the other end with only Huddersfield of the top 10 having conceded more.

So it should be entertaining if nothing else.

Burton may only be three points above the dotted line but that represents a huge improvement on this time last season when they were six points adrift of safety with only one victory.

They also don't mind an away trip either - unbeaten in their past five and with more points on their travels than at home.

Three points on the coupon or three points for one of these sides?

  4. Two sides in need of a winpublished at 14:48 GMT

    Huddersfield v Plymouth (15:00 GMT)

Plymouth players warm upImage source, Shutterstock

Things are not going to plan for Huddersfield Town nor Plymouth Argyle.

Both were among the promotion favourites this season but the Terriers are trailing the play-off spots by six points and Plymouth... well, they are in a much more dire situation.

Nine losses in 14 league games, three coming in the past three, has left them at the wrong end of the table rather than competing with the very best.

The fans are losing patience and for Plymouth boss Tom Cleverley, there's only one way to get them back onside.

"We have to work together to reconnect it [the relationship between the club and the fans], and I've seen it happen many times before where there is a little bit of disconnect, frustration," Cleverley told BBC Radio Devon.

"Those things can be solved and most likely it is by good performances and wins, and that's where we feel that responsibility."

  5. Bluebirds wary of improving Blackpoolpublished at 14:42 GMT

    Blackpool v Cardiff (15:00 GMT)

There may have been a few wobbles over the past month or so but Cardiff travel to the seaside enjoying their best start to a league season since the opening of the 2017-18 campaign.

That season ended with promotion to the Premier League and while the ambition this season isn't quite so lofty, an immediate return to the Championship is the bare minimum expected.

The Bluebirds have alternated between wins and draws across their past six games but the third-best away record in League One means they travel to Blackpool confident of putting another notch in the W column.

While Cardiff may be enjoying their best start to a season in eight years, Blackpool are in their best form of the current league campaign.

Now, being unbeaten in two games may not sound like much but Ian Evatt is trying to avert the disaster of dropping into League Two.

In fact, Blackpool are unbeaten in four games in all competitions but it's only back-to-back wins which will tell Evatt whether they are moving in the right direction or not.

  6. Exiles aim to 'make it really difficult' for leaders Walsallpublished at 14:38 GMT

    Newport v Walsall (15:00 GMT)

Newport manager Dave HughesImage source, Shutterstock Editorial

It’s bottom against top at Rodney Parade – and home manager Dave Hughes has no illusions about the task facing his Newport side as they try to clamber off the foot of the table.

The Exiles’ horrendous home league record, with six straight losses on their own turf since they drew 1-1 with Notts County in August, also ensures they will go into today’s clash with Walsall as clear underdogs.

“If you look at the makeup of their side from last season to this, the depth they have is vast and significant,” said Hughes.

“We know it will be a challenge, it’s going to be tough. We will set our stall out to make it really difficult for them.”

However, while Walsall went into the weekend top on goal difference, their recent form has been patchy.

The Saddlers arrive in Wales winless in their last three games, including a 1-0 defeat to struggling Cheltenham a fortnight ago.

  10. 'Chalk and cheese'published at 14:33 GMT

    FT: Northampton 2-1 Mansfield

    Luke Graham
Former Northampton Town defender on BBC Radio Northampton

Chalk and cheese from the first half to the second.

We spoke about two strikers, the impact that Tom Eaves had, in the first half the two Mansfield centre-halves could play it around, suddenly, Eaves comes on and he's chasing them down.

Jack Perkins wallops it in at the back stick and then the confidence after the penalty, I really enjoyed that second half, if they play like that then they'll be absolutely fine this season.

    Northampton 2-1 Mansfield

Northampton make a second-half comeback to rob Mansfield of the chance to enter the top six.

The Cobblers looked uninspired throughout much of the match but the introduction of Tom Eaves caused the Stags trouble, commanding their defenders' attention enough to see Jack Perkins level at the back post.

Mansfield applied some pressure to try and regain their lead but their hopes took a hit when Adedeji Oshilaja gave away a penalty for Eaves to convert.

Not quite the way Stags boss Nigel Clough probably envisioned his fifth anniversary game to go.

    Wycombe 4-1 Leyton Orient

A seventh unbeaten home game for Wycombe and an enjoyable lunchtime for them.

Leyton Orient failed to deal with the home side's direct approach as twice Fred Onyedinma got on the end of long balls to score.

Even though Aaron Connolly equalised with a penalty in between those goals, Dan Casey's first goal in English football gave them a comfortable cushion at the break.

Both goalkeepers were cautioned for fouls - Wycombe's Will Norris when conceding the penalty while his opposite number, Killian Cahill might have seen red when charging out of his area to bring down Onyedinma.

Sam Bell tapped in a fourth for Wycombe in the second period.

    Crewe 3-1 Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury's four-match unbeaten run comes to an end.

It was touch and go for much of that final quarter of the game, but Omar Bogle's third goal on the counter-attack wrapped up the points for Crewe.

For now, at least, the Alex climb into the automatic promotion places.

  14. Postpublished at 14:26 GMT

    Northampton 2-1 Mansfield

Elliott List's shot creeps up on goal and Stags keeper Liam Roberts has to dive to deny a third.

Still a few more minutes on the clock but that's not the end Mansfield boss Nigel Clough will want to see his men in.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:26 GMT

    Wycombe 4-1 Leyton Orient

Alex Lowry turns his man on the edge of the area but his shot is saved by Killian Cahill.

The Wycombe substitute then delays the restart and is cautioned - a bit silly.

  16. Northampton are good value for the win'published at 14:25 GMT

    Northampton 2-1 Mansfield

    Luke Graham
Former Northampton Town defender on BBC Radio Northampton

Northampton stayed in the game, that was really crucial in the first 45 minutes, to not go in any more than a goal down.

They're good value for the win, I can't think of many Mansfield chances in this second half.

  17. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:25 GMT

    Colchester 0-2 Bromley

Arthur Read almost halved the deficit late on, but his attempt was superbly tipped onto the bar by Grant Smith.

It means that Bromley depart with a clean sheet as well as all three points, courtesy of two goals in quick succession by Omar Sowunmi and Michael Cheek.

  18. CLOSE!published at 14:23 GMT

    Northampton 2-1 Mansfield

Ethan Wheatley could have put it out of sight for Northampton but his shot heads off target.

    It's close. So agonisingly close.

And now the Cobblers have several more nail-biting minutes to hold on.

  19. Postpublished at 14:23 GMT

    Wycombe 4-1 Leyton Orient

We'll have five minutes of stoppage time but this has been over for a while.

  20. goal

GOAL: Crewe 3-1 Shrewsburypublished at 14:21 GMT

    (Omar Bogle 90+3 mins)

    That'll seal it for Crewe!

Conor Thomas gets the ball clear and, with Shrewsbury committing men forward, substitute Omar Bogle is able to race away, slip inside and steer the ball beyond Will Brook.

It's Bogle's first appearance of the season - and the goal must be the icing on his cake. And Crewe Alexandra's.
