Aberdeen last played Cypriot opposition when they lost 3-2 on aggregate to Apollon Limassol in the Europa League third qualifying round in 2017 following a 2-0 away defeat.
AEK Larnaca have faced British opponents three times, beating Cliftonville in 2016, losing to West Ham United in 2023 and, of course, beating Crystal Palace 1-0 in London last month.

BBC Sport ScotlandA cursory glance at AEK Larnaca's last result and the Conference League standings is enough for Aberdeen to know they are in for a tough time in Cyprus.
The Cypriot Cup holders' 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park was a huge shock but added to their growing reputation after thumping AZ Alkmaar - third in the Eredivisie - 4-0 in their opener.
Yes, Alkmaar had a man sent off after only two minutes and, yes, Palace were wasteful in their first proper European home match, but those results are more than enough evidence to suggest Larnaca will be fierce opponents for Aberdeen.
Only Fiorentina, courtesy of away goals scored, are above them in the table.
To compound matters, the Scottish Cup winners' campaign stands in stark contrast as they sit bottom after their worst ever loss in European competition, a 6-0 drubbing by AEK Athens.
With this game marking the halfway point in the campaign, Jimmy Thelin's side simply have to start picking up points if they want to reach the knockout stage.
Larnaca are a club who have punched above their weight for 10 years, something Aberdeen could learn a lot from.

While the Dons are perhaps showing some signs that they are finally turning their domestic form around, continental matters have proved the steepest of learning curves.
After opening their Conference League account with a creditable 3-2 home defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk - Jimmy Thelin’s side were battered 6-0 at AEK Athens in their last Euro outing.
At the pre-match press conference last night defender Mats Knoester said the players owed the fans - and themselves - after that horror show in Greece.
The noisy Red Army will be hoping that means they can deliver a much better performance, and result, tonight.

They've not lost at home since March, and this season in all competitions they are unbeaten here. In fact they've lost once this season, that was away to Nordsjaelland in the league.
They're sitting at the top of the Europa League standings too, so this will be a tough test for Celtic.

Image source, SNSHaving started their European campaign by making heavy weather of dispatching Hibernian in the Europa League's second qualifying round, it is fair to describe Midtjylland as surprise leaders of the competition after three rounds of matches.
With respect to Hibs, who played well in those two games losing only to a stunning Junior Brumado bicycle kick with little more than a minute left of extra time at Easter Road, the Danes looked pretty ordinary in July.
They haven't looked back since though, losing once all season as they powered their way through the rest of the qualifiers, battering Fredrikstad 5-1 and KuPS 6-0 to reach the league stage.
A 1-1 home draw on Monday against domestic league leaders Aarhus keeps them tucked in two points behind, so the team Celtic will face on Thursday looks to have found a rhythm.
So what's changed? Well, the manager for a start.
Step forward former Hearts loanee Mike Tullberg - remember him? He was brought in to replace Thomas Thomasberg, who can probably consider himself unfortunate to have been dismissed after an unbeaten start to the campaign.

Celtic and Midtjylland have met once previously, the Danes winning 3-2 on aggregate in Champions League qualifying in 2021 after winning the second leg at home 2-1.
That was Celtic's most recent meeting with a Danish side, with current captain Callum McGregor opening the scoring in Herning, but replies from Awer Mabi and, in stoppage time, Raphael Onyedika won it for the hosts.
Overall, Celtic have won seven and lost five of 16 matches against Danish opposition.

This is the first ever meeting between Rangers and Roma in European competition – the Gers have failed to score in their last four major European games against Italian sides (D2 L2) since a 3-2 win over Livorno in October 2006.
Roma last met Scottish opponents in Europe back in April 1984, facing Dundee United in the European Cup semi-final. After losing the first leg 2-0, they won 3-0 in the second leg to progress 3-2 on aggregate.
Rangers have lost their last six European matches (inc. qualifiers), their joint worst ever losing run in Europe. The only two Scottish clubs to lose more in a row are Hibernian (seven between 2008 and 2016) and Motherwell (eight between 2010 and 2013).
Roma have lost their last two UEFA Europa League matches but haven’t lost three major European matches in a row since September 2010, while in the same season they last did so in September/October in the 2004-05 UEFA Champions League.
James Tavernier’s next UEFA Europa League appearance will see him equal Andreas Ulmer’s record for games played for a single club – Ulmer played 61 times for FC RB Salzburg, with Tavernier on 60 games for Rangers currently.
