Arsenal are in talks to sign Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera as the Premier League side ramp up their summer transfer business.

The Gunners want to make a defensive signing this summer with the 20-year-old Spaniard emerging as their favoured option.

Arsenal have shown an interest in Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace, but the England international maybe reluctant to join given he may find opportunities limited behind Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba.

Mosquera has made 90 appearances Valencia and was regular in the team last season. That included playing 90 minutes in 37 of the club’s 38 league games.

It has been a busy 24 hours for the Gunners, who are also on the verge of completing a swoop for Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard.

A fee worth up to £15million has been agreed and the Denmark international is set to undergo a medical.

Meanwhile, Myles Lewis-Skelly has signed a new five year deal at the Emirates Stadium – following Magalhaes, who penned new terms earlier this month.

  2. Ronaldo's underwhelming Al-Nassr careerpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time

Cristiano Ronaldo's time at Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr whom he joined in 2023 has been largely underwhelming.

Though he has bagged plenty of goals for the club and won personal accolades, the Portugal legend's only trophy at the Riyadh club came in the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup, where he scored twice in the final to help his side beat rivals Al-Hilal.

Ronaldo will also have his fifth different manager at the club next season, after Al-Nassr parted company with Stefano Pioli after less than a year in charge this week.

The former AC Milan boss had taken over at the Saudi Pro League side in September 2024 when he replaced Luis Castro following a poor start to the season.

Pioli guided Al-Nassr to a third-place finish in the Saudi top flight last season as they finished 13 points behind champions Al-Ittihad.

They were also knocked out in the last-16 of the King's Cup and the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League.

Evening, Mr Rindl. My left-back pecking order reads: Kerkez top of the pile, followed by Robinson, then Cucurella, Robertson just behind, a nod to Myles Lewis-Skelly, and finally Rayan Ait-Nouri bringing up the rear.

Thanks Kenny - our colleague Joe Rindl isn't on the live today, but we'll pass on the message. He'll like that.

Al Nassr have announced that Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his contract with the Saudi Arabian club.

The 40-year-old Portugal captain's deal was due to expire at the end of this month, having joined the Saudi Pro League club in 2023 after the termination of his deal with Manchester United.

He has scored 99 goals in 111 appearances for the Saudi club, including 35 in 41 matches last term, claiming the league's Golden Boot award for top scorer.

"Al-Nassr forever," Ronaldo says in a video posted by the club on social media with caption "the story continues."

Ronaldo posted on social media "the chapter is over" following the Riyadh club's final Saudi Pro League game of the season last month, leading to speculation he was set to leave.

Tyrick Mitchell is definitely one of the most effective left-backs currently playing in the Premier League, but his fine work often gets overlooked with Muñoz grabbing all the headlines on the opposite flank. Modern full-backs need to have the right balance between defensive skill and attacking threat, and therefore Mitchell is definitely part of this conversation.

Myles Lewis-Skelly may only be 18, but Mikel Arteta certainly trusts him.

Of all players aged 18 and under playing for Premier League clubs last season, no one featured in more games (39) than the Arsenal man.

A new contract and a place on the shortlist for PFA Young Player of the Season are reward for Myles Lewis-Skelly’s breakout season with Arsenal and England.

The 18-year-old was a ball-carrying central midfielder in Arsenal’s academy but has excelled at left-back, with license to step into midfield, since making his first Premier League start in December.

Lewis-Skelly’s running power and physical strength are among his key attributes. He was only dribbled past once in the Premier League, the best record of any player to have made at least 15 starts. He also ranked third for fouls won (3.1) per 90 minutes and won the most duels (6) per 90 among Arsenal’s defenders.

His background as a midfielder is evidenced by a 93.6% pass accuracy, the fifth highest figure in the division among all players to have featured for at least 1000 minutes during 2024-25.

As England head coach Thomas Tuchel said after giving Lewis-Skelly his first England call-up in March, “He’s nothing but impressive.”

The best left back in the Prem right now is Marc Cucurella and it's not close, he flies under the radar sometimes but his influence is huge like his hair

Thank you to everyone who has texted in to tell us that the movie Burnley featured in their announcement video for Quilindschy Hartman is of course Stephen King's It.

My colleague and I might be the only people in the room to not know that.

Unless you are an Arsenal fan, there's a good chance you had no idea who Myles Lewis-Skelly was this time last year.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland certainly had no idea when the then-17-year-old made his Arsenal first team debut in a fiery 2-2 Premier League draw in September. He even asked him: "Who are you?"

It's fair to say that everyone knows now.

A decade on from joining Arsenal's youth system, Lewis-Skelly made 39 appearances in all competitions in 2024-25.

In March the 18-year-old made his senior England debut, and has started three of Thomas Tuchel's four matches in charge of the Three Lions.

Lewis Hall. Had an outstanding season at Newcastle before injury struck

    Dave in Lanzarote

Lewis Hall from Newcastle is the left back I'd want to sign on a new Football Manager save. Antonee Robinson is rubbish and terrible and definitely not the best full-back in the league leave him where he is I say. And send Harvey Elliott back to join him.

    Tim, Devon

Steady on Tim, that's two-goal England Under-21s hero Harvey Elliott you're talking about!

Yesterday Burnley published a clip from 1996 classic Mission: Impossible, in which Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) has his head placed in a sack and is taken to see somebody called Max.

The sack is removed and sitting in front of Cruise is..... Burnley's new goalkeeper Max Weiss, external. Obviously.

If you are in the least bit social media savvy, then you might know that Burnley have a reputation for confirming new signings with quirky announcement videos.

The arrival of Quilindschy Hartman is no different.

They've cut the Dutchman into a film, external (we're not sure which one, please help us) in which a child is chasing a paper boat along a gully of rainwater.

When the boat dissapears down a drain, the child peers in and finds.... Quilindschy Hartman, of course.

It's all rather odd but brilliant at the same time. Honest.

Best Left back.....Lewis Hall. He's gone off everyone's radar since his injury, but watching Livramento in the U21s makes me think Newcastle have England's future on both sides of the defence sorted. Hard-working, can put a tackle in AND find space and killer passes

After signing his new five-year contract with Arsenal, Myles Lewis-Skelly told the club's website: "I’m so proud and happy. I know those words are simple, but I think they sum up how I feel signing for this club. I’m a fan and it’s like a dream come true.

"I've embodied the values of Hale End and come through. I've still got a lot of years ahead of me, so if I can keep staying humble and being a good person, that's the most important thing to me."I know I've taken a lot of experience from the games about the positive moments, the mistakes that I've made. I'm definitely more ready now for the next season. I just want to keep learning and keep improving."I want a legacy. I want to win everything there is to win in the game. I want to win trophies on the biggest stages whilst being a person that's always learning and stays grounded, which is so important."

Milos Kerkez spend his early days in football at clubs in Serbia, Austria and Hungary including Rapid Vienna, Vrbas and Hodmezovasarhelyi.

Early in 2021, Milos Kerkez was convinced by five-time Champions League winner Paolo Maldini to choose AC Milan he left Hungarian side Gyor.

He was given some minutes in pre-season in summer 2021 but always ranked behind Milan's more senior left-backs Theo Hernandez and Fode Ballo-Toure.

Kerkez departed for AZ Alkmaar in January 2022 having never played a competitive match for the Serie A club.

The Hungarian told journalist Gianluca di Marzio that asking Milan to leave on a permanent basis was "the best decision of my career".

The following season Kerkez played in all but one Eredivisie match as AZ finished third, and he helped his side reach the Europa Conference League semi-finals where they lost 3-1 on aggregate to West Ham.

From there he moved to Bournemouth for an undisclosed fee in summer 2023, where he quickly became one of the standout stars.
