Elisabeth Terland has now scored seven goals in the WSL this season

Elisabeth Terland scored twice to help Manchester United continue their winning streak in the Women's Super League with a 3-1 victory over struggling Crystal Palace.

Terland opened the scoring in the ninth minute as United capitalised on a feeble goal-kick by Milla-Maj Majasaari that landed at the feet of Grace Clinton.

United, who had the best defensive record in the league before Sunday's meeting, faltered before the break as Mille Gejl squeezed in an equaliser at the near post.

However, Terland restored the hosts' lead when she latched on to a loose ball and tapped home after rounding the Palace keeper in the 64th minute.

England midfielder Clinton wrapped up all three points with five minutes of normal time remaining by heading home Ella Toone's free-kick.

A sixth straight WSL win for Marc Skinner's team keeps them in the running for the title, moving them to within four points of leaders Chelsea, who face Everton later on Sunday.

Palace, meanwhile, remain bottom of the table - three points adrift from safety before Sunday's meeting between their relegation rivals Leicester and Aston Villa.

Terland's textbook finishes keep pressure on Chelsea

Laura Kaminski said earlier this week that she believed her Palace side could get points "out of every single game".

And a draw seemed a likely result following Gejl's goal as United struggled to break through the visitors' resilient defence in the early stages of the second half.

That was until Skinner's side regained control when Terland unexpectedly found herself on the end of a deflected pass before dribbling her way past Majasaari.

It was another composed goal from the Norway striker, who now has seven in the WSL this season and is joint second in the league's scoring charts.

Her first of the game was a textbook finish. Hinata Miyazawa took the ball from Clinton and fed Terland, who had her back to goal then turned efficiently and drilled into the bottom right corner.

She should have had another shortly after, but her close-range effort rattled the woodwork.

Skinner will be pleased his first-choice striker has found her form as the club hope to keep pressure on Chelsea and boost their chances of a spot in the Champions League.
