Jayden Clarke's second-half strike was enough to give Gillingham all three points with a win against Salford at Priestfield.
The club's leading scorer got his sixth of the campaign when his right-footed drive from 18 yards beat goalkeeper Matt Young to hand Mark Bonner's men their first victory in three games.
The visitors had started the game well and should have gone in front on the quarter-hour mark when Cole Stockton was sent through one-on-one only to be denied by veteran keeper Glenn Morris.
Josh Andrews and Jack Nolan went close for the hosts prior to the interval, however both efforts were just off target.
Gills seized the initiative following the break when Max Clark spotted the run of Clarke on the edge of the box before his effort was deflected beyond the reach of Young.
Conditions played havoc as Salford did their best to draw level.
However, their best chance came in the closing stages when Conor McAleny, on as a substitute, saw his drilled effort saved by Morris.
