Ah, I see my mistake. The number of forwards Chelsea have is way more than 10.

My list left off Joao Felix, Armando Broja, David Datro Fofana, Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling.

    It should be 15!

Love how much trust you put into Delap's throwing ability, Joe

    Tom, Herts

If we are counting the bomb squad at Chelsea, what about Raheem sterling for the XI's bench?

    Ooops, my bad.

If we're counting Joao Felix then that's 11 forwards for Chelsea. An entire line-up. I might do a starting XI graphic.

Liverpool fans have spent years (30 I think) telling us "insert rival team here" had bought the league. Now they're spending HUGE amounts and suddenly it's clever investment? Football hey!

Liverpool fan, I think the spending has to be looked at with sales in mind. What we do better than other big clubs is get value for our sales. Quansah brought in more than Frimpong cost. Kelleher & Trent paid for Marmadashvilli. Diaz will cover Ekitike. Darwin will cover Kerkez.

Liverpool's transfers are not as extreme as are being made out. Three replacements for A-Arnold, Kelleher and the sad loss of Jota. Then replacements for Nunez and Diaz mean it’s a squad overhaul not just squad additions for the sake of it.

  10. 'Liverpool are a super smart football club'published at 14:12 British Summer Time 24 July

They're definitely up there, that's for sure. As are the usual suspects of Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford.

Once again I'm going to plug my chat with football finance expert Kieran Maguire.

    This month he told me:

"Liverpool are a super smart football club. They have been outside the top-10 spenders on player signings since 2019, but their model is a classic case of being smarter rather than bigger.

"Liverpool's model has been to ignore the noise and only buy a player if they truly improve the squad. It's a Moneyball,, external more analytical approach.

"Chief executive Michael Edwards does a brilliant job and he never buys players because of external pressure. He doesn't get jittery when fans call for more signings."

Liverpool fan here, genuine question, are we the most well run team in the league? The reinvestment of that Coutinho money and subsequent success and continued smart transfer business has been a masterstroke!

Re Ben from Wolverhampton 13:46. Respectfully, Liverpool already have the league, they won it and they don't need to "buy it". It is up to other teams to try and win it back.

    Ted

The league already belongs to us we don't need to buy it.

  16. Reminder - Chelsea in talks for Dutch duo Simons and Hatopublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 24 July

    Sami Mokbel and Nizaar Kinsella

Chelsea have opened talks with Ajax over a move for centre-back Jorrel Hato while pushing ahead with interest in RB Leipzig forward Xavi Simons.

Hato, 19, has emerged as one of Europe's most promising young defenders after an impressive campaign in the Eredivisie, making 31 appearances.

BBC Sport understands that Chelsea are in direct communication with both Ajax and Hato's camp to explore the possibility of a summer transfer. Talks are understood to be in the early stages, with no agreement yet in place.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are discussing personal terms with Simons.

The Netherlands international, 22, is understood to be open to a move to Stamford Bridge, as the Blues look to add more creativity and attacking flair.

RB Leipzig are aware of Chelsea's approach, though no agreement has yet been reached.

Thanks Jack, and everyone else for your messages.

Wirtz, Ekitike, Frimpong, Kerkez and Isak all in one transfer window would be sensational. Feels like EAFC.

Now then, I've been a fool as per and deviated from our plan. While we wait for Isak developments, let's return to Chelsea.
