Summary

  1. goal

GOAL - Real Sociedad 0-1 Man Utdpublished at 19:02 Greenwich Mean Time

    Joshua Zirkzee

    It's been coming!

United have shown a lot more attacking intent since half-time and they are rewarded with a goal.

It comes from the boot of Joshua Zirkzee whose attempt goes through the legs of a defender and past the keeper after Alejandro Garnacho's pass.

United lead in the Basque Country.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 19:01 Greenwich Mean Time

    Real Sociedad 0-0 Man Utd

Bruno Fernandes has been booked. Not sure if it was for a heavy challenge or what he said to the referee after it.

  3. Postpublished at 18:59 Greenwich Mean Time

    Real Sociedad 0-0 Man Utd

Another chance for Alejandro Garnacho. Straight at the keeper.

Still, United look the more likely to score. Will they take a lead back to Old Trafford for the second leg?

It's that man Cyriel Dessers again! Two goals and one assist for the big striker and Rangers are on their way to a MASSIVE win on the road.

    Or are they? VAR checking...

If Arsenal can beat the second best team currently in the Eredivisie 7-1 away from home, I dread to think what they would do to this AZ side.

  6. Postpublished at 18:58 Greenwich Mean Time

    AZ 1-0 Tottenham

Son Heung-min goes on a mazy run from the left, cuts infield across the 18-yard line and attempts to bend one into the top corner.

It's wide and over, but at least there's some attacking intent from Tottenham at the start of the second half - they've probably shown more in attack in the first seven minutes of the second period than they did in the whole of the first.

Then, just to remind you you're watching a Tottenham game, you look up from typing and see Guglielmo Vicario make a phenomenal save from Ernest Poku's low shot at the other end.

    It's open.

Again, Man Utd on the attack, Rasmus Hojlund had an opportunity, but he didn't react - he has to do a touch more.

Man Utd created some good opportunities, they probably edged it with chances, but I don't think Ruben Amorim will be too disappointed.

There's a long way to go in these ties.

  8. CLOSE!published at 18:57 Greenwich Mean Time

    Real Sociedad 0-0 Man Utd

Will Manchester United score in the Basque Country?

Alejandro Garnacho has just wasted a glorious chance. Instead of finding the back of the net, he's found the side-netting.

  9. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 18:55 Greenwich Mean Time

    Copenhagen 0-1 Chelsea

    It's all happening in Copenhagen.

Soon after Chelsea take the lead, Viktor Claesson hits the post.

This is a completely different game to the first 45 minutes and they've only been going five minutes or so in the second half.

Really good play from Bergvall. He was unlucky, at least Spurs have had a strike at goal.

    AZ 1-0 Tottenham

Lucas Bergvall almost atones for his first-half own goal with a driving run and shot from 25 yards, which curves just wide of the far post.

  12. 'Both managers will be content'published at 18:52 Greenwich Mean Time

HT: Real Sociedad 0-0 Man Utd

    Michael Brown

I think both managers will be content. Imanol Alguacil will want more control, for Man Utd in that setup I was expecting more from Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho.

  13. goal

GOAL - Copenhagen 0-1 Chelseapublished at 18:50 Greenwich Mean Time

    Reece James

    WAKE UP, CHELSEA HAVE SCORED!

And it's a pretty decent goal as well as Reece James finds the back of the net with a low drilled attempt from about 25 yards out.

It's just what this game needed.

The suspense and anticipation of waiting for Spurs to a have shot on target makes riveting watching.

    Nick

Spurs playing low IQ football, can't pass the ball two yards to each other. Whatever Ange said to them at the start, his half time talk needs to be better. Really, really poor!

    Chris

Spurs so underwhelming in that first half. Not sure what the game plan is. All the play seems to be slow, off the cuff, over elaborate & unproductive. Big changes needed.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 18:49 Greenwich Mean Time

    AZ 1-0 Tottenham

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has made a half-time change, with Wilson Odobert replacing Mathys Tel.

It'll probably mean Son Heung-min plays in a more central role.

  16. KICK-OFFpublished at 18:48 Greenwich Mean Time

After Champions League joy earlier this week, it's not going quite as well for the British sides in the other two European competitions.

Spurs trail in the Netherlands, while Manchester United and Chelsea resume goalless in Spain and Denmark respectively.

Rangers, though, do lead against Fenerbahce.

We're set to get back under way in the second half of those games.

Having watched the UCL matches last night and based upon tonight's match , it would be farcical if either Real Sociedad or Manchester United qualify next season by winning this year's UEL.

    Nick

Manchester United need to get a result here. Our home form is abysmal.

  18. Elsewhere in Europepublished at 18:43 Greenwich Mean Time

In the only ongoing Europa League game not involving a British club, Lyon are 1-0 up at FCSB. The winner of that tie will face Manchester United in the last eight - if Ruben Amorim's side make it through.

In the Conference League, Fiorentina fought back from 2-0 down to be level at 2-2 with Panathinaikos, while Molde are 3-0 up at home to Legia Warsaw.

Chelsea are yet to find a breakthrough against Copenhagen, while the other game between Real Betis and Vitoria Guimaraes is also goalless at half-time.

  20. 'Amorim will be pleased'published at 18:40 Greenwich Mean Time

HT: Real Sociedad 0-0 Man Utd

    Rene Meulensteen
Former Manchester United coach on BBC Radio 5 Live

If you're the Real Sociedad coach at home, you want a bit more control and pressure. They didn't create too much, but I think Ruben Amorim will be pleased. It is not a game which has opened up yet.
