Winning the FA Cup is always special. Given some of the disappointments we have had this season, I think any real City fan would be happy with a victory in the final. Bournemouth first though, who may just go all the way themselves.

    Jeff, Manchester

An FA cup definitely redeems a poor season. We’ve looked a shadow of ourselves this season. Most of the teams left in the competition are as strong as the so called ‘Big six’ and will be incredibly hungry for silverware. I’m far from convinced we’ll get past Bournemouth, then Brighton, Villa, Forest, Fulham and Palace are all more than capable of beating us this year. On the back of four Premier league titles in a row it’s easy to forget the many trophyless seasons that came before the recent success.

  3. Hurzeler says he 'won't discuss' the 7-0 defeat to Forest earlier this seasonpublished at 11:01 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March

Brighton v Nottingham Forest (Sat, 17:15 GMT)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler was asked about the 7-0 defeat earlier in the season to Nottingham Forest, which was their heaviest defeat for 67 years.

"I won't discuss it," Hurzeler said.

"The players took a lot of ownership and a lot of responsibility and they said we have to go back to the things that made us strong and things that make us strong are working together, showing intensity and this belief that we can beat every team in the league."

One thing that may give Hurzeler belief is that Forest are missing their top scorer Chris Wood, who scored a hat-trick in that 7-0 win.

And Brighton, since that defeat, have gone on a seven-game unbeaten run; winning six of them and beating the likes of Newcastle, Fulham, Bournemouth, and Chelsea twice.

  4. Brighton's poor form at Wembleypublished at 10:56 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March

Brighton v Nottingham Forest (Sat, 17:15 GMT)

    No, Andy, you haven't.

The Seagulls have indeed never won at Wembley, having visited on six occasions. Most recently, they were defeated 7-6 on penalties after 120 minutes of goalless action in the 2023 FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United.

I see what Ollie is saying but we played a poor Man Utd team in the semi previously and didn’t go through. In fact, have we ever won a game at Wembley?

  6. 'For me it's important we don't make it artificially big'published at 10:48 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March

Brighton v Nottingham Forest (Sat, 17:15 GMT)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has played down the occasion against Nottingham Forest in the quarter-final of the FA Cup:

"Of course we feel it but for me, it's important we don't make it artificially big. Of course, it's an important game but it's like all the other games as well because in all the games we can improve ourselves, in all the games we have to go to the limit.

"I am not trying to make it artificially big, we all know it's a big opportunity, a big chance but it's like all the other games as well."

Brighton v Nottingham Forest (Sat, 17:15 GMT)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler spoke to the media earlier and gave updates on the fitness of his players before the FA Cup quarter-final against Nottingham Forest:

"Lewis Dunk will be back, Matt O'Riley will be back, hopefully, they both will be options for the game. Let's wait until the session today.

"Tariq [Lamptey] will be out for a longer time. Solly March should be an option. I think they both [Joao Pedro and Kaoru Mitoma] will be fine and can start the game."

Re: Anon-10:01. The disrespect on the other teams left is crazy, Brighton have beaten City once this season and could’ve easily won the away game against them a couple of weeks back. If Brighton were to get through and draw City I would really fancy our chances.

  14. Man City's results this season against remaining FA Cup sidespublished at 10:14 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March

So, Man City's results this season against the remaining teams in the FA Cup.

    • v Bournemouth they lost 2-1 away from home in November
    • v Brighton they've taken just one point from two games, drawing 2-2 in March and losing 2-1 away from home in November
    • v Nottingham Forest they were defeated 1-0 last time out at the City Ground in March
    • v Aston Villa Man City were defeated 2-1 at Villa Park in December
    • v Crystal Palace Man City had to come from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park
    • v Fulham Man City claimed all three points as they won 3-2 at home in October

It doesn't make great reading for the favourites...

Just to prove Anon's point to be wrong even more, we've got a post coming your way very, very soon.

    It makes for interesting reading!

Pretty harsh from Anon there on the rest of the sides left in the FA Cup.

Bournemouth are just four points adrift of Man City in the Premier League and have beaten Pep Guardiola's side at the Vitality Stadium already.

Anyone can lose to Real Madrid over two legs, but, with all due respect to the other teams, if Pep and Man City don't win this trophy given who is left in the draw, it would arguably be their biggest failure of the season.

Good question! The date and time of the draw has not yet been confirmed but it will be at some point this weekend, of course.

A possible time for it would be after Bournemouth v Manchester City in the final quarter-final on Sunday, live on BBC One.

Your guess is as good as ours!
