  11. Who could replace McLaughlin at Glenavon?published at 17:20 BST 4 October

    Portadown v Glenavon (17:30 BST)

Glenavon confirmed Paddy McLaughlin's departure from the club on Sunday night after their poor start to the season.

The Lurgan Blues are rooted to the foot of the table after nine straight league defeats to start the season and they are already nine points adrift of the likes of Portadown and Bangor above them, with the Mourneview Park outfit seemingly aiming to act decisively now in the hope a 'new manager bounce' can stave off the threat of relegation.

The big question now is who will be tasked with getting Glenavon out of their precarious position? The club have invited expressions of interest in the position from "persons holding or working towards the requisite IFA licensing qualifications" before Monday, 6 October.

Striker Davy McDaid and defender Niall Quinn will form part of Glenavon's interim management team, the club have announced.

The Lurgan Blues parted ways with boss Paddy McLaughlin on Sunday following a poor start to the season that has left them bottom of the table and winless in their first nine games.

Members of McLaughlin's coaching staff, including Colin Coates, have also departed the club following his dismissal.

In a statement on Wednesday, the club confirmed that McDaid and Quinn, along with coaches Tim Lennon and Ryan Prentice, will form the interim management team for their game against rivals Portadown on Saturday at Shamrock Park.

Glenavon chairman Stephen Best added that the board "will choose carefully" when appointing their next manager after inviting applications for the role on Monday.

    Portadown are going well.

They have a great trait of scoring goals late on, which is a good sign as it shows a team who never give up.

Niall Currie will have no sympathy for his Mid-Ulster rivals today and will be looking to put more pain towards the Glenavon supporters with a victory today.
