Spartans nudged up one place to ninth in the lower half of the SWPL after winning 5-2 away to bottom side Dundee United.
Aimee Anderson opened the scoring after six minutes and set up Zara Andrews to net before knocking in her second goal of the evening before half an hour had gone.
United, who have won just twice all season, staged a comeback with two goals early in the second half, Kaela McDonald-Nguah converting a penalty and visiting goalkeeper Alicia Yates flapping a Sophie Timlin corner into her own net.
However, Spartans settled any nerves with further strikes from Mya Bates and Erin Rennie taking them two points above Montrose, who drew away to Aberdeen.
