Yildiz is Juventus' top scorer at the Club World Cup with three goals

Kenan Yildiz scored one of the best goals of the Fifa Club World Cup so far as Juventus beat Moroccan side Wydad 4-1.

The Italian side opened the scoring through an own-goal after Yildiz's strike deflected off defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil and wrong-footed goalkeeper Mehdi Benabid at the near post.

But not to be denied a goal of his own, the Turkish forward doubled Juventus' lead 10 minutes later with a thunderbolt from the edge of the area.

The 20-year-old latched onto a bouncing pass from Andrea Cambiaso and unleashed a first-time effort that rifled into the top corner.

Thembinkosi Lorch gave the raucous travelling Wydad supporters something to cheer about when he halved the deficit with a delicate dinked effort beyond Michele di Gregorio.

Yildiz added a third for the Italian side midway through the second half before substitute Dusan Vlahovic converted from the spot in stoppage time.

The victory leaves Juventus on the brink of qualification to the knockout stages.

What were the main talking points?

As has been so often the case at this Club World Cup, the main talking point was again the weather in Philadelphia.

There were temperatures of 31C at kick-off at Lincoln Financial Field and they rose further as the game went on, resulting in 35C heat by full time.

Prior to the match, local government in Philadelphia issued a press release stating a "Heat Health Emergency" in the city.

Enzo Maresca's Chelsea are due to take on Tunisian side ES Tunis in Philadelphia on Wednesday (02:00 BST).

On Saturday, in Cincinnati, Borussia Dortmund's substitutes kept out of the heat during their victory against Mamelodi Sundowns by watching the first half from the dressing room, then sheltered under umbrellas on the bench for the second.

Which players stood out?

Yildiz brought the heat to what was an already scorching Philadelphia on Sunday.

The young Turkish international was the star of the show at Lincoln Financial Field and rounded off a superb performance with two outstanding goals.

A goal of the tournament contender was added to by a lovely solo piece of skill which saw him beat his man in the area before picking his spot and placing the ball calmly beyond the goalkeeper.

The 20-year-old was agonisingly close to his first career hat-trick but for the opening goal of the contest that was registered as an own-goal.

The standout stats

Juventus had only three shots on target against Wydad on Sunday but scored four goals thanks to Boutouil's early own-goal.

The Moroccan side also had more shots over the course of the 90 minutes (15) than the Serie A side did (9).

What's next for these teams?

Victory for Juventus means they will be through to the knockout stages should Manchester City win or draw against Al-Ain in the 02:00 BST kick-off

The final games in Group G take place on Thursday, 26 June at 20:00 BST.

Juventus take on City in what could be a battle for top spot, while Wydad face Al-Ain.
